[Stamped] LIGHTHOUSE BOARD 1053 Received. MAR 11 1907

Department of Commerce and Labor OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY Washington

March 8, 1907.

Sir: -

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of March 4, 1907, relative to a request by Mr. B.F. Jones for permission to use a part of the Light-House Reservation at Newport, Oreg.

In reply this Department begs to state that it is informed by the Light-House Board that this reservation was transferred in 1888 to the War Department for its use until needed by the Light-House Board.

This Department, therefore, does not find itself able to grant this request.

I have the honor to be, Sir,

Your obedient servant,

[signature]

Secretary.

Hon. Jonathan Bourne, The Shoreham, Washington, D.C.
