1865 Aug 19th I am sick to day
20th Did not goall went to meeting Henry went Claiborne & Henry finished chimney etc. Ben spining
21. All went to work shrubing Claiborne to mill 5 Bus wheat, Henry to plowing for wheat fine day Hot
22. 23 24. 25 Shrubing pulling fodder Halling wood I went to association carried Henry
26 Pulled fodder 24 lbs Tyed up last evening Mr. Whitehead started to Franklin, I went plantation Naney & Sallie gone to meeting New Bethel Henry gone with them fine day to day
27. 28. 29 - 30 31. Pulling fodder put up 1 stack blades several More to put in a day or two, nearly done putting fodder here Sandy Dickinson & Henry Young, sent Clairborne to mill yesterday Fanned out wheat yesterday made 29 Bus. 1865. Richard got back from Franklin yesterday.
September 1 - 6, 1865
1865 Sept 1st. I went up to see Fanny who is sick Sally [unclear] went with me saw Jacob & Mr. Moses. pulling some fodder gathering peas put up 3 stack blades & a half
2 Cut some tops in lot Finished pulling fodder at house gath ered peas etc etc I have bo't John R. Whiteheads interest in cornwheat sow & pigs & his mare. Fannie gave him $75 G. Backs [greenbacks] or $50 silver, let him keep his stack oats at new granary. — fine week for saving blade fodder
3rd My wife gone to Edge Hill meeting —
4th Pulling fodder on Creek to day Very hot weather here fine timefodder to sew
5. Pulling fodder on Creek Very hot weather finished stacking here at house
6th Pulling fodder on Creek Let Mr. Bybee have $54-55 to pay toll Buy for Estate myself & them,
September 7 - 11, 1865
1865 Sept 7th Rained a little last night; clear & beautifull this morning pulling fodder on Creek put up stack down there last night,- got done pulling todayMiss Mr Clement here
8. Put up another stack on Creek yesterday. finished pulling there & nearly done tying up no rain on our blades of any consequence they have Put up 14 stack blades thereat Aspen Grove& we will have 12 or 13 here Pulling new groundnegroes fodderfodder & sent Henry to Yates Mill 2 1/2[?] Bus corn & 2 bushels wheat [unclear] We have 3 stacks on Creek of Fodder not started & new ground, just pulled to day
11th Put up 3 stacks Mon on Creek making 7 there & 5 here Some cutting tops to day pulling corn on Lot after 12 oclock stacking Tops finished getting Blade fodderup our Turned young Bob Tails sow & 8 pigs out this evening lot of Sallie

September 13 - 21, 1865
1865 Sept 13 Started Henry to Lynchg with 1 Hhd good tobacco gave $2.75 for toll & to get [unclear] gave Henry 50¢— cutting tops here this morning cloudy this morning —
14 Digging Irish potatoes & getting peas in lot Wm Clement here been sick - Jacob at old place carried over another Hhd Tobacco making 3 over Lynchg to sell
15 Digging Irish potatoes sent little Henry to mill 1st Turn new corn this morning ——
16 Henry did not come from Lynchg last night, this week very hot, cutting down sorghum for molasses This morning cool & clear I went to plantation yesterday they are stacking tops down there
17th Started to Court —Jerry went with me
18th at Court Jerry & me halled & stacked our tops,
19 Jerry started home soon but Wm. McHaney my waggon shut picking out cotton Picking out Peas etc
20 Fixing to make molasses.
21 Began to make molasses
September 21 - 27, 1865
1865 Sept 21 Made 9 gallons molasses fine day weather about 3 weeks since any rainwe had
23rd Making molasses to day made 12 1/2 gallons to day. made this week 32 gallons & picked out some cotton this evening
25. little Henry started to Lynchg with Hhd Tobacco good. Mr. Bybee goes & will sell the one he carries for Estate to pay debts
26th Sept. 1866 [1865] Sallie & Mr Whitehead started from here Cedar Hill this day to liveatMrs. Wade in Franklin, left her bureau & bed stead here, we are making molasses, rained a little last night but clear this morning, lent Sallie my buggy to Franklin
27th. Finished making molasses at home this evening made here a little over 40 gallons & will commence if nothing happens for Aspen Grove tomorrow
