1865 Sept 28th Little Henry came back from Lynchg - at night Making molasses from Plantation. Made 4 1/2 gallons Claiborne halled 2 loads & Buck 2 from there of the stalks

29th Making molasses from same to day made galls Sent little Henry to mill Cutting down corn stalks Sow wheat Mr. Moses stilling Sowed in this month 5 bushels winter oats at Aspen Grove got from Waller

30 Sept, gathered far field corn this day & measured up in corn house 4 1/2 Bbls more some to shuck at stalk. Still dry weather & very dry Spayed 5 shoats 1 got out thats to cut — youngs Black & spoted[spotted] Sows pigs

Oct. 1st Sunday dry weather

2 Sandy came this morning to work in shop little Henry gone to mill 2 1/2 Bus. wheat for flour Henry gathering last corn & Ben

Oct. 3rd 1865. Shucking out corn out of lot. Picking up stalks & fixing lot to sew wheat Cut big Boar & little boar. cool no rain yet -

4th cutting down stalks in lot Henry made ox waggon axletree weather dry & cool

5 gathered [unclear] on Creek. Claiborne Halled logs for Mrs. Susan Roaches Sent to mill —

6. Killed little beef here this morning 4 hands & cart & [Irby? Jerry?] here helping me hall corn off the Creek - halled this day Claiborne halled 3 loads wood & then halled corn from Creek fixing Bridge on Creek only halled this day both carts

7 my ownloads, Clear & cool 7th Haled up 11 cart & waggon loads corn this day making 18 in all from Creek & finished halling from there — today. 2 days at it.

8 I went to meeting Saturday Sunday & Monday

Monday 9th. Halling up stalks out of lot & cut some over next to Keens, warm weather

10 Plowing for wheat & began to sew in this morning Henry went to mill after meal

11.12. Halled up 4 heavy loads off Creek 7 stalks & finished upwards of 3000 lbs & packed it in new granary loft Gathering 12th[Greens?] & sowing wheat in lot & expect to finish that [ink blot] bushels - I went to old place this morning, [ink blot] [ink blot] [ink blot] Margaret & young Wm [from?] Scruggs hired Bill Charles all left & Joseph missing this morning Sallie & her 3 children also gone Clear & dry yet. warm

13th Sewing wheat in far west to woods Halling up stalks Turned our stock on Creek cloudy & like for rain or snow John Clark went down to Aspen Grove to work to day about 12 oclock

I went down with him to fix up chimney & plaster the house where falling down & to fix up closet

1865 Oct. 13th Put up 13 hogs here to fatten, & 2 been up sometimes besides Henrys & one with old Big Sow turn ed out to fatten my spotted I have not seen for sometime I expect she has pigs

14th Raining this morning Getting out Beans Peas & flax seed to day & gathering broom corn seed

14th Began to rain last night & to day it rained all day thundered wind blew & quite cool wind from N. W. Raining at night hard got our peas & beans today & shelled corn etc etc

15 Cleared of [sic] staid at home

16 Sewed wheat & cutting down corn to sew, Halled wood & sent to mill 1 Bbl corn for meal fine weather

1865. Oct. 16 Turned out Cedar Hillourhogs last week entered other side

17th Found my spotted sow to day had 9 likely pigs sewing wood & cutting corn,

18th Sewing wheat & cutting down corn this morning, began to rain 11 oclock, one sheep dead Beat out fax seed this evening Rained till night & still raining. My wife gone to Mrs. Colemans

19th spreading out flax this morning getting wood till 12 oclock then sewing wheat Cleared off fair & good weather

20 Finished sewing wheat at house Sewed 6 1/2 bushels at house sewed over 5 bus on Creek Digingsewed my lot here Irish & sweet potatoes to day my wife & Jerry gone to Mr Martins[?]

21st Dug Irish potatoes this morning & went to sewing on Creek. Clear fine day put away 12 Bus seed sweet & about 15 bushels eating roots very sorry
