21st Oct. 1865 Made Cedar Hill10 or 12 Bushels Irish potatoes, late planting [sorry?] Marked 2 heifer calves & turn ed them in corn field had to fence in turnip patch

22nd Oct 1865 This day got peaches off a tree to eat & they are fine in Lot by old stable. Fine clear day weather moderate. People having parties & frolicking about these troubled days that we have time in instead of praying to Almighty God to have mercy upon us as a people Great depravity in our country

23rd. Sewing wheat on Creek [unclear]Shot Lewis a horse bot at [Panills?] last Feby for $105 @ as I could not to any thing with him

24th Sent Claiborne to Starkeys Tan yard 1 horse hide 1 yearling hide & squirrel skins. Plowing & sewing wheat on Creek to day Sent 6 Bushels wheat to Aspen Grove to sew by Lowry

to be sewed in lot back of garden down there Turned considerably cooler & high wind Cedar Hill here

25 Sewing wheat on Creek

26 Finshed sewing wheat on Creek & sewed 1/2 Bus. in potatoes Patch by Stable. Making 6 1/2 Bus at house Cedar Hill & 5 Bus on Creek for me

27th Sewing rye in Lot by corn House on Road 1 Bushel sewed & finish to day I went to Plantation yesterday to measure corn Cloudy Kill bull & sent skin to Tan yard alson[also] sheep skin another beef hid[e] & horse hide squirrel skins for Pride

28 Oct. Halled up Load Corn shuck =ed it out & put it away sent to mill after 2 Turns meal & getting wood in evening cleared off without any rain

29th I staid at Home my wife went to Mrs Hunts fine day

30 Mrs Hunt here Lucy Steptoe & Miss M Coleman

1865 Oct 30 Halling up corn & shucking last night 31st Working in corn Housing halling up & shucking

1-2 3 Nov. 1865 Working in & finished shucking corn at house. Housed 31 1/2 barrels long & short Creek corn in prize Barn to keep on shuck, - & Creek fodder in new Granary none used 7 stacks 4 or 5 waggon Loads Cloudy & raining this morning

4 cloudy & rainy most all day in evening raining hard — making Brooms shelling & spining corn etc

5th Cleared off & cold this day we eat Pears off a Pear tree before dining room door. Second crop, we had Pears on same tree June & Novr 5th 1865 Cold day the Pears some some fell on we eat themground &

6th Getting wood I went to Starkeys he was from home & I got no leather going there again to day —clear & cool

1865 Novr 6th Clear & cool Getting up negroes corn to day I am going Tan yard Starkeys again Mr Lain came back with me & cut out 9 pr shoes for Plantation

8th Mr Roland here shoemakingpr day@ 4/6 We are Breaking & swingling flax, Mrs James Hunt came Sandy Shoemaking to day

9 Mr Roland shoemaking @4/6 Sandy Shoemaking Killed 2 Hogs in small Pen Breaking & swingling flax till 12 oclock then cutting & malling wood Clear weather

10th Mr Roland shoemaking sent little to Millers mill after Cotton & Plank got 1 Turn meal. Claiborne gone to Mrs Fitzgerald to friday & will stay till Saturday evening getting up corn

11thHalling & getting wood to day & shoemaking

12th Sunday went to S.S. M. to dayyesterday &

13 Mr Roland & Sandy shoemaking Halled 2 loads leaves Pressed out cidar for vinegar Cutting wood nearly filled up vinegar cask in smoke house

1865 Novr 13th Jerry & Pride started with little Henry & Hunts Jacob to Lynchg 2 waggons, 2 Hhds tobacco for Estate, fine clear weather My Henry has permission & a note to go from this Tuesday morning 14th Novr 1865 till Wednesday evening to get himself & family a home as him & me cant agree, I have offered him to find them & the time teem[team] & expenses in making a crop 1/3rd the corn & wheat & 1/2 the Tobacco they can make him little Henry & claiborne to work with him Milly Ann to cook & Elvira to stay in house & Lila to live in some from the balance & I have nothing to do with her, he refuses to take my offer & goes off by my consent to get him a home

15. Halled a Load Sunday to Aspen Grove to day 6 Bus. wheat from JD Hunts place on acct of my mule Sallies working there this year after [unclear] made 1 bushel of this wheat is for my Henry for pig
