Trustees

The regular monthly meeting of the Trustees was holden, agreeably to the usual notice, on the at the Office of C. P. Curtis Esq. at 12 M. _

Present, Messrs Bigelow, Bangs, Curtis, Gould, Read & Tisdale.

The Record of the last meeting was read and approved.

Inexpedient to fill vacancy in Trustees.

Voted,, that, whereas Mr Hall has declined to accept a place on the Board of Trustees to which he was elected in February last, _ it is inexpedient to fill the vacancy thereby created during the present year.

Future place of Meeting - referred to Mr Curtis and the Secy_

Mr Curtis stated that he had understood that the meetings of the Trustees were in future to be held at the Office of the Secretary & it was accordingly

Voted,, that the question of the future place of meeting be referred to Mr Curtis & the Secretary, & that the Seretary [sic] be authorized to call future meetings either at Mr Curtis's or his own office, as shall meet the wishes of Mr Curtis. __

Trustees_

The regular monthly meeting of the Trustees was held at the Office of the Secretary No 39 Court Street in accordance with the tenor of the vote passed at the last meeting on the

There were present Messrs Bangs, Bigelow, Crockett, Gould, Little and Tisdale. _

The record of the last meeting was read & approved. Some informal conversation ensued in relation to the letting of a part or the whole of the Stone farm, but no action was had. _

H. M. Parker's Bill

A communication from Mr Henry M. Parker, the former Secy in reference to his claim against the Corporation for sundry services, accompanied by his bill, was laid before the Trustees by the Pres. Dr Bigelow. __

referred to Committee

After some discussion thereon, it was _ Voted _ to refer to bill of Mr Parker to Messrs Little & Gould, with full power to effect a settlement.

Privy _ Committee to cause erection of

The Subject of having a privy in Mt. Auburn for the accommodation of visitors was introduced by Mr Tisdale & urged as of great importance: & it was Voted_ that Messrs Tisdale and Bangs be a Committee to cause the erection of a privy in the Cemetery of Mount Auburn for the use of visitors only: (Dr. Bigelow desiring that his vote might be recorded in the negative.)

A. A. Lawrence_ Lot 904.

A communication was received from A. A. Lawrence Proprietor of Lot 904, which lot contains 600 square feet _ of the same tenor as the request of Wm R. Lawrence presented at the meeting of the Trustees on the

Division of authorized

for the division of said lot into two of 300 square feet each & conveyance of the same, one to the said Amos A Lawrence & the other to the said Wm. R. Lawrence. _

Voted that the foregoing request be granted upon the usual terms - reconveyance of said lot to the Corporation, & new deeds to issue to the persons designated, with the charge only of the usual fees for making deeds. __ .

Lot 730 _ recording Transfer

The Secretary asked instructions as to recording a transfer of Lot 730, by Thomas B. Pope the Admr. with the will annexed of Nathl. P. Russell, made in the usual form, without any certificate of power, to Samuel H. Russell.

Voted, _ that the Secretary be instructed to record the same, if he sees fit. _

Trustees Story Statue

A special meeting of the Trustees was held at the Office of the Secretary on -

Mr Curtis, the Committee appointed at the meeting of the Trustees on the , in reference to the disposition that should be made of the statue of Judge Story when the same should arrive in Boston, submitted a letter from Edward H. Eldredge informing him "that the Statue of Mr Justice Story by his son is in Boston, & that he is ready

to deliver the same at the Chapel in Mount Auburn, in compliance with the contract of Mr Story: - And further proposing, if the Trustees are not ready to receive the Statue at Mount Auburn that he will exhibit it in the vestibule of the Athenaeum, & keep it insured at the expense of Mr Story, provided the Trustees will accept the Statue at that place". _

Story Statue to be delivered at Boston Athenaeum

On consideration whereof it was Voted. That the Trustees will accept the Statue Judge Story delivered in the vestibule of the Boston Athenaeum, provided it shall be found in good order, and that it may be exhibited there by Mr Story until the further order of this Board, he keeping the same insured against fire, for the amount of the cost of it, and taking reasonable precaution to protect it from injury by visitors. _

And it was further

Treasr to pay for same

Voted, that, upon the order of the Committee upon this subject, the Treasurer be authorized to pay the amount of the contract price to Mr Story or his agent. _

Voted that Mr Tisdale be added to the Committee upon this subject. _

On suggestion of Dr Bigelow it was

Pedestals for statues of Story, Winthrop, Otis, & Adams.

Voted, that the committee appointed to procure the Statues of Winthrop, Otis and Adams (Dr Bigelow) be further authorized to procure suitable pedestals for the four statues already ordered
