Small sized letter from Ilma sending me the announcement of the wedding of Gitsey Speed & Bessie Comingor. She intimated that the Pumper— nickel was coming. Was congratulated on my speech by professor

Graves. Feeling better about the contest. [Nicholas Lindsay] South (class of 1906) & [John Amar] Shishmanian (class of 1907) & several others said I was a very close second, & nearly won out. [Frank Walker] Smith (class of 1907) gave Joe away. Told how he had to fix Joe's speech & then {fix it f} teach it to him. Smith said

that I had the best speech in the bunch. I have the satisfaction of knowing that I wrote all my speech, and trained myself. Got a hair cut for a change. [John Ashby] Williams (class of 1906) explained to me why he called on me out of my turn, in the contest.
