Saturday, March 3, 1923

A beautiful day. Warm. Mabel has played out of doors for the first time this year. The men folks hauled in some feed. Nellie done most of the cooking and churned and killed a chicken. This evening I washed some the clothes. Dried and I ironed them. Irvin harvey come for some butter. He got two pounds. Kate Hulel[?] and & Christenia Reynols come. They got one pound. Henry and his father went to Mr. Mayhews to play games. Franklin cried to go and Edna wanted to go. They did not.

Some rain this morning. Clear this evening. I went to Lee Brumfield today. Oscar come for me. Grace had a nice dinner. Edna went with me. Nellie staid at home and got dinner and cared for Mabel.

There was trouble at mill and Mayhews. The officers found a still near his house. Lawson Emerson come home with Henry. Then they went some where. We don't know where.

Monday, March 5, 1923

A cloudy day. Ben plowed all day today. Jim went to Renan for some seed. He sowed some peas, I think. I have not done anything much today. Cut some cress salit. Helped the children shuck a shock of corn. Milked and churned. Set a hen. Nellie made a canvas for the plant bed this morning and done some other sewing this evening. Hattie washed here today. The clothes did not dry much. Heard today that Lee had bin appointed commisioner of the I don't know what. Mrs Booker sent and got the quilting frames this morning. Guess she is fixin to quilt some.

Tuesday, March 6, 1923

A rainy day. The men folk did not do anything much. The children went to school except Franklin. Mabel and Franklin played all day. Nellie made the bread for dinner. We had cress salit for dinner. We all enjoyed it fine. The ladies had a meeting at Mr. Jessie Hutcherson's. Mrs. Booker called me and said that she had a quilt in the frames and I could help quilt if I would. Ben got a package throu the mail today and a part of it is lost. He is very sorry about it.

Wednesday, March 7, 1923

A clear windy day. The men did not do much work of any kind. Ben went to Renan and to Gretna. He went with Jack Hubband to Gretna. Nellie got dinner and churned. This evening I went to Mr. Booker and helped Mrs. Booker quilt. The children went to school. Heard today that Mildred Fergerson has pneumonia. I do hope that she may get well again. Had a letter from Carrie. They are well now. Bend and Jim are invited to a barn raising tomorrow. Hope the wind won't blow like it has today.
