Tuesday, April 17, 1923
A cloudy day. Ben and Jim put up wire all day fencing in a pasture. John Ward went to the mill with corn. He got his grinding done. I was glad to get some meal. I have bin lone some today for some one to talk to. The baby has bin good today. She slept some this evening. The other children went to school. They got in wood and got water and milked the cows and got supper.
Wednesday, April 18, 1923
A clear colde windy day. Ben and Jim worked on the fence some. Jim made a hotbed and worked in the garden some. John Ward draged the corn land. Ben got his gladolis bulbs. Jim got a letter from his son inlaw telling that Evylin was feeling better and that Nellie got to Silver Grove Sunday. The three children went to school. Mabel and I have a bad day. It was so colde that she could not stay out of doors and that was what whe wanted to do. I think now that I will enjoy warm weather. Edna has come to go to bed.
Thursday, April 19, 1923
A good day. Ben and Jim plowed today. Jim planted some in the garden. I planted some dahlias. The children went to school. Mabel staid out doors most of the day. I got breakfast and milked the cows. Emthied[?] the milk and churned. Fed the chickens and got dinner and washed the dishes and rocked Mabel to sleep and read the paper some and fed the chickens and milked the cows and got supper and washed dishes. Now we are ready to go to bed. I have to stay here so close that I dont know anything to write.
Friday, April 20, 1923
A good day. The men hauled manure and drilled it in the land for tobacco. Jim cleaned the stalls. The children that go school went. Mabel staid out doors nearly all day. I have dodged about most of the day. Lelia Ward come this morning. She got a hen for her washing. Had postal from Carrie. She said that all was sick at her house except the baby. I do hope they may soon get well. Today has bin warm. Mabel has gone to bed.
Saturday, April 21, 1923
A very windy day. The fire got out from Clack Hubbard new ground. A lot of the neightbors met and stoped it. Did not do much damage. Ben carried the children to Kates. They staid most of the evening. I met them and come with them home. Joe Edmonds gave us a ride part of the way home. I was glad to get that much help. Henry has plowed today. We met Julia and the children. I was glad to see her Bend come by and brought me home. Jim staid at home.
