23 Dec. 1851 Snow on ground - sleighing Went to Cherry Hill Worked in shop in afternoon ---24-- Went to Elkton with Joe called at Walmsleys & Morris's. Came up with Dr M. & John Harvey --- 25 --- Christmas- cloudy in the morning looks like snow- Milly & I took din ner with Mr. Price. Snow falls at night. 26 Good sleighing. Worked in shop Rachel & W.T. went to Cherry Hill in sleigh

Saturday Dec. 27 Went to Walmsley's mill with wheat- M Kossoth Passed along in cars- Had to go by Manley on account of ice- good sleighing went at night to writing school New Leeds Sunday 28 Rain falling and freezing Begins to thaw- water run ning on road- took supper at miss B's Isaac Tyson there going tomorrow to Virginia --- 29-- Thaw going on- Mary & John started to school V. went down country.

Dec. 30th 1851 Snow and ice are are melting away- Mr. + Mrs. Morris came up and took Miley away I am working in shop at sleigh- Jeremiah Mahoney here- his son Stephen's address Kanesville Potto watamy County Iowa. --- 31st -- Rain + warm. Working in shop. R. Walmsley & Harriet came up and took Lizzie home with them. Worked to night at sleigh. Heavy rain after night- Creeks high and ice broke up

Dec. 31 Log at Harlans taken away - the cold for the last two weeks has been very intense. Ice from 8 inches to 1 foot thick. So ends the year 1851. In Cecil Co. it has in general been a healthy year. There were some exceptions- in the neigh borhoods of Brick Meeting House, Zion & Gravelly Hill the dysentery prevailed and was very (___). The wheat crop this year was very good. Corn not an avri age, potatoes light crop
