24 continued - Came to Elkton at night 25 Saturday waited at Elkton for Mail. Came home in after noon - Went to Mr. Price's at night with Milly - John Simpers's horse ran off with carriage

26 - Sunday - Took Milly & Helen to Union for love-feast. Went in and was pleased with the services - after which Mr Thomas preached - Tech 4-7. Revival going on - Mother came up from Elkton - In afternoon Hugh B. McCauley called to see us 27 Monday - Calculated & plotted line for Howard & Oldham 228 1/2 acres - Measured boards sent by Jn Harvey - poplar 200 ft W. O 30 ft

Weather still very moderate No frost in the ground - Worked in the shop at carriage Mr. Walmsley here for dinner. Rain in the afternoon. 29. Windy and cold quite a change of weather - worked in shop at carriage 30 - Very cold - Freezing hard with high wind Henry McCauley moved to Tuchstone's 31 - Very cold - pump froze Too cold to work in shop John W. Simpers called and made settlement Francis Harvey here for dinner

February 1st 1851 Still continues cold, though ice thin more moderate. Worked in shop - Protracted meeting commenced at New Leeds - Received a letter from Wm McClelland Iowa - came in 17 days 2nd Sunday - Snow commen ced in morning. Went to church at New Leeds Mr Helmbold preached - Txt "That rock was Christ" - preached again at night Acts 1/24 - He came home with me. Snow 2 or 3 inches deep in the night 3. Not snow enough for sleigh and is melting off - Worked in shop - Mr Helmbold left after dinner hd him 1$ for Church E. Nottingham Pa. Wrote letter to W McClelland. Iowa

February 4th Snow thawing off. Frank Harvey called to see me being about to start for Ohio next day 5 - Moderate - Roads muddy Worked in shop at boring machine for John W. Simpers

6 - Cold & windy - Went to Elkton with Milly & Rachel took dinner at Harriet's Was out at the pigeon shooting.

7th - Went to Scott's Mill - Stopped at Cherry Hill - Took dinner with Wm Jarvis & Mr Wright. Wllis Reynolds called to see me Wrote letter to Margaret Jane

Feb 8th

Saturday, Weather cold and disagreeable – Worked in shop V. went to Elkton – Heard that Sewall & Foard were expected at Elkton to night from California. 9th Sunday – Cold, with Sleet went up after dinner to see mother – Meeting still going on at Union. 10th Moderate with rain worked in shop – made bit for Jess H. Went down at night to Mr. Price’s – Dawson there 18th Roads bad – Walked to Elkton Saw Sewall getting out of cars just arrived from California Looked thin & sunburnt. Saw E. L. Foard too – looked bad continued
