Upon nomination of Mr Curtis, seconded by Mr Read, Jonathan Mann was appointed Superintendent for the year ensuing. _

Choice of Supts Clerk & Gate Keeper postponed to adjourned meeting

The choice of Superintendent's clerk, and gate Keeper being next in order, it was moved by Mr Nazro, and Voted _ That the choice of Gate Keeper and Supt's Clerk be laid upon the table until the time to which this meeting may be adjourned; and that

B. F. Wyeth's memorial referred to a Comee of three.

the memorial of Mr B. F. Wyeth, former Gate Keeper, which was referred by the Proprietors, at their Annual Meeting to this board of Trustees, be now referred to a committee of three to report thereon at such adjourned meeting: _ and that when this meeting adjourns, it will be to the next regular meeting.

Messrs Nazro, Curtis and Cheever were appointed such committee. _

Gardener appointed.

Upon nomination by Mr Cheever.

Anthony Apple was appointed Gardener for the ensuing year.

Secy's & Treasr's Salaries

{ Upon motion of Mr Curtis, ^voted that the salary of the Secretary { be the same as last year: three hundred dollars, and the { usual fees. _ { Upon Motion of Mr Read, Voted that the compensation { of the Treasurer be the same as last year, a com{ mission of two and one half per cent on the gross sales of { lots.

Treasurr's Bonds _

Upon motion of Mr Crocker, voted that the Committee on Finance be instructed to examine and report upon the sufficiency of the bond given by that Treasurer. _

Salary of Sup.t.

Upon motion of Mr Bangs, Voted that the salary of the Superintendent be the same as the last year _ one thousand dollars and the use of the house.

Privilege to Sup.t.

It was further voted upon motion of Mr Gould, that the Committee on Grounds have authority to allow the Superintendent to use such wood from the Cemetery, for fuel, as they shall think proper. _

Salary of Gate Keeper &c postponed _

Upon motion by Mr Nazro, Voted that the subject of the salary of the Gate Keeper and Superintendent's Clerk be postponed until the adjourned meeting. _

System of Supt.'s Accts. Refd to Comee _ on Finance

Upon motion by Mr Read, Voted that the Committee on Finance be requested to take into consideration what change, if any, shall be made in the system of receiving

and disbursing moneys by the Superintendent, and report at the adjourned meeting.

Mr Hallett's Resolution respecting Care of Lots. referred to Specl Comee

Upon motion by Mr Curtis, Voted that the resolution offered by B. F. Hallett Esq. at the annual meeting of the Proprietors respecting such modification in the terms of the accumulating fund as to make the same apply to the care of lots, which was referred to this Board of Trustees, be now referred to a Committee of three, to consider and report thereon.

Upon nomination of the President, Messrs Curtis, Gould and Cheever were so appointed. Mr Cheever declining, the President was appointed in his stead.

Plan for preservation & use of Gravel _ Refd to Comee on Grounds _

Upon motion by Mr Nazro, Voted that the committee on Grounds be instructed to report a prospective plan for the preservation and use of the gravel on the unsold parts of Mount Auburn. _

Purchase of lots on Laurel Hill, Refd to Comee on Grounds

Upon motion by Mr Curtis, Voted that the Committee on Grounds be instructed to inquire on what terms they can purchase the lots on Laurel Hill (so called) with full power to act in the premises. _

Receiving Tombs _ Refd to Comee on Grounds _

Upon motion also by Mr Curtis, Voted that the Committee on Grounds be instructed to consider and report upon the general subject of Receiving Tombs, and whether a new one is or is not necessary. _

Relations of this Corpn to Mass. Hort. Socy &c _ Ref to Specl Comee

Upon motion by Mr Crocker.

Voted that the same gentlemen as were appointed last year ~ Messrs Curtis, Bigelow and Nazro, be a Committee to consider the relations and obligations of this Corporation to the Massachusetts Horticultural Society, including in the subject of their inquiry, the subject of their inquiry, the Stone Farm: and that they be authorized to take the opinion of one or two eminent counsel thereupon. ~

Comee on Statuary

Upon motion by Mr Curtis, Voted that the President and Mr Gould be a Committee with all necessary power in relation to any existing contracts for statuary.

Supply of water from Camb. Water Works _ Refd to Specl comee

Upon motion from Mr Bangs, Voted to renew the Committee of last year _ viz.

Messrs Curtis, Gould, and Read,

To inquire on what terms a supply of water for Mount Auburn can be obtained from the Cambridge Water Works, and report thereon.

How much gratuitous care upon all lots annually? _ Refd to Comee on Lots _

Upon motion by Mr Read, Voted that the Committee on Lots be instructed to consider how much time shall be devoted annually, free of charge, to all lots in the Cemetery, & report thereon.

Lot 1484 Representative _

Upon the petition of the parties in interest under the will of Mary Pratt, deceased, late proprietor of lot numbered 1484, Joseph Whitney of Boston, Trustee, was designated to represent said lot.

Trustees

The regular monthly meeting of the Trustees, the same being ^also an adjourned meeting, was held on at the usual place. _

Present, the President, Messrs Cheever, Curtis, Gould, Little, Nazro, and Read.

The record of the meeting for organization was read.

Report of Comee on memorial of B. F. Wyeth.

The Committee to whom was referred at the last meeting the memorial of Mr B. F. Wyeth, reported through Mr Curtis, the report being signed by Messrs Curtis and Cheever _ declining to inquire whether any or what allegations were ^made against Mr Wyeth, for reasons fully set forth in the report ~ the Chairman of the Committee Mr Nazro presented a minority report

Accepted.

Upon motion of Mr Curtis, seconded by Mr Read, it was voted that the report be accepted, six voting affirmatively, and one in the negative.

Mr Crocker joined the meeting at this stage.

It was then moved by Mr Nazro and seconded by Mr Crocker that the following votes which were appended to his report, be adopted, and that the question be taken by yea and nay. _

"That in the opinion of this board, while Mr Wyeth held the offices of Gate Keeper and Superintendent's Clerk, at Mount Auburn, he was faithful and honest in the performance of his duties, and that the Trustees, at the time they appointed another individual to succeed him in those offices, had nothing against his
