Trustees _
The regular monthly meeting of the Trustees was held at the usual place on _
Present, the President, Messrs Cheever, Crocker, Curtis, Gould, Nazro, and Sleeper.
The record of the last meeting was read. _
Waldo, H. S. Adjustment of difference about Lot _
Mr Curtis, for the Committee upon Lots, to which was referred, at the last meeting, the subject of the differences between Mr H. S. Waldo and the Corporation, reported than an amicable and satisfactory arrangement had been made with Mr Waldo with reference to the conveyance to him of the lot in question, and upon motion, it was voted
That the report be accepted.
Mr Curtis further stated, that, upon another subject committed to them _ the numbering of the lots _

Further time granted to Comee on Lots _
the Committee had had one meeting, but had not yet arrived at a satisfactory conclusion; and he asked for further time.
Upon motion of Mr Cheever,
Voted that further time be allowed. _
Special Police appointed at Gate _
Mr Bangs here came in and reported upon the subject entrusted to him at the last meeting _ he had waited upon the Mayor and Aldermen of Cambridge, and that the Superintendent, the Gate Keeper and one other person had been accordingly appointed special policement, without compensation.
And the report was accepted.
Mr Bangs again withdrew.
Memorial of Treasurer of Harv. Coll. referred to Special Comee
Mr Curtis read a letter addressed to him by Amos A. Lawrence Esq. as Treasurer of Harvard College, also a memorial to the Trustees, respecting the boundaries of the lot in Mount Auburn belonging to that Corporation. _ to the effect that, by accident, monuments had been placed over the line of said lot and upon the grounds of the Corporation, and asking that such action might be taken as would enable the said Corporation to erect bounds to said lot. ~
Upon motion of Mr Curtis, the subject was referred to Messrs Gould and Cheever.
Repairs of Chapel [authorized]
Upon motion by Mr Gould, Voted that the Superintendent be authorized

[Repairs of Chapel ] authorized
to cause the joints between the stones in the Chapel to be repaired, and painted of a uniform color. _
The President called Mr Crocker to the Chair, and left. ~
Some informal conversation ensued, but there was no other action.

Report of Comee on Records at Cemetery and numbering of Lots _
Mr Tobey for the Committee upon Lots read the following report.
"The Committee upon Lots to whom was referred a communication from Jona Mann, Supt addressed to the Trustees of Mount Auburn Cemetery in reference to the mode of keeping the records of interments at the Cemetery respectfully
Report
That they have examined the records referred to, as now kept, and after having fully considered the subject referred to them, are of opinion that the liability to inaccuracy in the records will be much diminished

by some change in the system. They would therefore recommend that the records of interments should continue to be kept at the Cemetery, but that the Superintendent be authorized and directed to number the lots when selected by any person proposing to purchase, and to place on such lot or lots a broad stake, on which shall be printed in legible figures the number he has applied to said lot or lots. He shall also be directed to issue to the person who has selected a lot, a certificate in form according to the copy hereto appended.
The certificates to be used for this purpose should be printed, with suitable blanks to be filled by the Superintendent as required, and said blurbs should be bound in a book, with a wide margin opposite the blanks; and it shall be made the duty of the Superintendent to record in said margin the number of the certificate issued, the name of the party to whom it has been issued, and also the number of the lot which said certificate represents. Said book of certificates and record shall be designated (and marked) as a "Record of selected lots in Mount Auburn Cemetery". As soon as the Superintendent has received from the Treasurer notice that the deed of a selected lot has been issued, it shall be his duty to write on the record book of selected lots _ against the number of the lot indicated by the deed _ "Deed issued." It shall also be the duty of the Superintendent to make a monthly report in writing of any

lots selected which have been forfeited by the omission of the person holding a certificate to present it to the Treasurer within the time specified.

Form of Certificate referred to in the preceding report.
"No. _____, Mount Auburn Cemetery Mr _____ _____ 18__ _____ has this day selected lot No. _____ in Mount Auburn Cemetery of which he may be the Proprietor by the payment to the Treasurer of _____ dollars within five days from this date, and provided also that this certificate is presented and surrendered to the Treasurer of said Corporation within five days from this date. If not presented within the time aforesaid, all right to the selected lot herein referred to shall cease. This laying out and sale of this lot to be subject to the approval of the "Committee on Lots,,.
