Clear. Thursday, February 3, 1870. 31°

Bro R went to Glen Cove after breakfast. W Wilson called at the office. After dinner I took Harriet & the children and left them at Mr Wm Wilsons whilst I went to Jas Jewetts he and his wife took tea with us, after which I went with them to an evening party at Mrs Mary Worthingtons, did not get home until past mid-night.

Clear. Friday 4 24°

Isaac Wood & Jas: Retzer came from Lanc: C: arrived about 2 pm Recd: letter from Bullick & Crenshaw

Clear Saturday 5 38°

Wrote to mother Ritzer enclosing $10. Recd: letters from T Tyson & Dr J. M Da Costa. Wnt to Darlingtons to the store for some groceries.

Cloudy Sunday, February 6, 1870 32

Jas: Retzer & Isaac Wood went home starting about ½ past 10 a.m. Bro: R came up and dined with us. He read Beecher's sermon to us. Wrote to sister Harriet.

Clear. Monday 7 25°

Went to Jno R Johnson's and to Glen Cove where I dined. Called at Wm Websters and again at Jno R Johnson's on my way home. Recd letter from Isaac Wood written before he came over.

6in snow Hail & slur- Tuesday 8 32½°

Terrible stormy morning Hailing with a high wind, about 6 inches of snow on the ground. Stormed throughout the day. Went to Jono R Johnson's J Garrall called at office R M Gilmore came up to R I J's in th evening in his sleigh. Wrote to U B Kirk for R.I.J.

Clear Wednesday, February 9, 1870. 30°

Went to Johnson's in sleigh before dinner: after noon took Harriet and all the children to Mr Wm Wilsons to tea. Called again at Johnson's, broke down opposite Scotten's, and all walked home froom there. Cousin R.I.J. recd: by express Gum Ring cushion & Pyrolig: acid: from Bullock & Crenshaw. I wrote again to UBK, countermanding order.

Clear. Thursday 10 32°

Went to Johnson's and Monsen's Wm Coale & sister took tea with us. Mary Ramsey & A Holloway called in Evening. Dr Virdin called and dined with us, after having met me in consultation at Johnson's (at my request)

Clear Friday 11 23°

Staid all night at Johnson's last night. Dr Virdin came up and again met me in consultation in Mrs Johnson's case. She died at 1.20 p.m. Called at Monsen's. Dr. V. dined with me.

Dr W.H. Stump spent most of the day in the office. R.I.J. also over several times. Recd letter from Levi K Brown.

Went to friends meeting. Called at J. Seatton's R M Gilmore called at office for medicine for Lizzie.

Cloudy- Monday 14 30

Went to E.M. Allen's. Dr W H Stump spent evening in office. Took tea at R.I.J's.

Cloudy & Foggy Tuesday, February 15, 1870. 40

Started at 7 am for Lancaster Co: taking Harriet with me left the children with cousins RIJ & Keziah went to Levi K Browns and transacted some business wit him, left there about ½ past 12 p.m. Reached home at ¼ before 5 p.m. Roads wretched Rained all the afternoon

Joseph Hopkins called, R I J spent most of the fore noon in the office. Went to see Wm Holloway at H.C. Stumps Otto Monsee's called in evening. Bro R & Jimmy Jackson came and spent the night with us.

Clear. Thursday 17 27½°

Jimmy Jackson went to Lapidieu in the stage on his way to Riverside. Bro R left for the Cove. Went to smith shop (Garrell's) and had "Kitty" shod, and to Monsee's & had bridle mended. Marion Gilmore & W Webster brought sow & pigs to R I Js. Recd: letter from Isaac Wood.
