70 Clear and Cloudy S.W. September Sunday, 7th 1879 Charley did not get home from "Seranading" until 4 o' clock this a.m. Ed: Boswell here and had tooth extracted I went to W P Miller's and Riverside taking Harriet with me to call upon sister Mary who arrived yesterday eveng - Alvin Nugent called Charley and Willie went to Riverside to see their Aunt Mary Thunder storm in the night -

Clear and Cloudy 65 Monday, 8th High wind N.W. Heavy storm most of last night. I could not sleep but got up and wrote Henson Hill and Mary Snowden here for advice and med: High wind and cool Afternoon took Dora to Fulford and left here at a "quilting" party.

Cool Clear N.W. 55 Tuesday, 9th Bro Richard and Sister Mary called to congratulate me upon my fiftieth 50th birth day. Afternoon took Harriet to call upon Anne Parker at R T Bentley's. Leonard Mitchell was here all day [illegible]

55 Cleary NW September Wednesday, 10 1879 Went to "Brighton" called at "Homewood". Charity Boswell here for advice and med and had teeth extracted. Jas: Rorand's here for advice and med for wife. [Illegible] Mitchell worked all day Alice Paise came. Sister B called. Gift from Sharonhad tooth cut. Charity Boswell here for advice and med: and had 3 teeth out. Jas: Round's here for med: and for wife.

Clear 60 Thursday, 11th NW Henson Hill here for advice for wife also R Addison. Went to "Alloway" to prescribe for a friend Am Stabler. Meeting of Horticultural Society at Lyceum Riverside and Homewood friends dined here. After tea C went to Mrs: Scott's to practice with "string band". Ernest spent the night with him.

Clear N. W 51 Friday, 12 Real autumn morning. Went to see Friend An Stabler at Alloway. Afternoon bro: Chas: called and took Dora to "Woodburn" to Archery meeting bro Chas went after her late in the Evening.

65 Cloudy SE September Saturday, 13 1879 Was called early to visit Frd: Ann Stabler again. Went again towards night in Returning brought Mrs: D F. Thomas to "Ashton" on her way to Benj Williams to a "book club" [illegible] Rained in the Evening.

65 Cloudy S.E. Sunday, 14th Rained most of last night and quite a thunder storm about noon today. Went to Alloway to see Friend Ann Stabler also to "Oak Grove" to prescribe for Mifs M Pleasant's: dined there (Charly and I) during the Rain: called again at Alloway - Sent for again to see Friend A Stabler. home about sun down Pleasant sacred music after tea.

Clear 67 Monday, 15 N.W. Was called between 3 and 4 this a.m. to see Friend Ann Stabler, Reached home before sun Rise.

After tea Charley went with W Scott [illegible] to Jackson and Bentleys did not get home until 2 a.m.

65 Clear N.W. September Tuesday, 16 1879 David Read and Henson Hill called for advice and medicine, Took Harriet and Edwd with me and called at Chas: Stablers and at "Homewood". Friend Ann Stabler died at "Alloway" about mid-night last night. Went to Jno: King's afternoon.

Clear 60 Thursday, 18 N W Jno King, Richd Addison and boy from Geo: Sprigg's here for advice and med: Also Wark Miller. Afternoon went to Chas: Howard's and attended Kate Jones in confinement. [Illegible] Kirk and Granville Stabler called to see about a horse that had been stung almost to death by honey bees again after mid night

60 Clear W September Friday, 19 1879 Sent Willie with medicine to C. Howard's - Woman from on Geo E Brook's place here and had tooth extracted for child Mrs Edwd Smith here for advice and medicine Walter Scott took tea and spent the evening here

65 Cloudy and Rain S.E. Saturday, 20 The 20th anniversary of our wedding day. I went in omnibus to Chas Howard's, Ashton and to "Homewood", Willie with me. Rained rest of the day Called up to see Ann Parker's little son ["Illegible"]

60 Cloudy E Sunday, 21st Cool and threatening Rain. Went to Richd Addison's and R T Bentleys Willie Jackson spent day here Afternoon Charly and Dora went Riding on horseback.

55 Cloudy E September Monday, 22d 1879 Cold disagreeable day. Friend Caleb Stabler called - Wrote to sister Harreet. Walked up to S.S. Charley went to Leawood Mills after tea With Frank Gilpin

Clear and Cloudy 60 Tuesday, 23d S.W. Went to Leawood Mills, and E.E. Tyson's. Bro: Richard and sister Mary dined with us - Susan Dair's here for advice &c for her son - Ed: Chalfant here to spend the night with Willie. I went to Jno: Luca's afternoon. David Read called for advice and medicine.

60 Cloudy and Foggy S.E. Wednesday, 24th Sent Chas Johnson to Scott's after oats and sot sixteen Bushels - Hung doors to the back carrage house.

September Thursday, 25th 1879 Beautiful day - Charley and I left home at 6-15 a , and drove to Laurel. left our team and went to Balto: "put up" at Millers Hotel after noon walked out to "Barnums Great Sho" at Newington Park - after tea went to Foards Opera House to hear "Pinafore" Retired about 11-30 p.m.

Clear 45 Friday, 26th NW After breakfast I went to Mifs E Tysons 79 McCulloh St and walked down to Friend's School with S D Coale Attended to various little [illegible] and left for Laurel at 4 p.m. Reached Home just after dark "tired out" -

49 Clear NW Saturday, 27th Went to Ed: Dave's (colerd) to see his son with tphoid fever - Afternoon drove Harriet and Edwd to Fulford when we took tea.

60 NW Clear Sempetmber Sunday, 28th 1879 After breakfast Charly and I went to Riverside and Leawood Mills -

Clear Foggy 61 Tuesday, 30 W Anna Parker called - Went to Jno: Thoma's. After tea Eustace Lawford and Ernest Iddings spent Evening with us. I gave the former my watch to take to Balto tomorrow to have chain mended again - Ernest spent the night with Charley.

65 Clear S.W. October Wednesday, 1st 1879 Very warm for the season. I took Harriet, Dora and baby Edward in the omnibus to Leawood Mills. Afternoon went to Ed: Dairs (colored) and to Horace Sedgwick's to see about chickens - Sent C Johnson to H Sedgwick's (after dark) and got 1/2 doz: spring chickens - Mr Eustace Lawford called and left my old "Great Grandfather" spectacles having brought them from Baltimore -

65 Thursday, 2d Clear N.W. Beautiful weather - went to John Thomas' (of Wm John) and to Wark' Miller's Afternoon walked up to the time of year. thermometer 85 in the shade at 3 p.m. Horses appear to suffer more than in July or August.

Clear 68 Friday, 3d S.W. Was called up last night to prescribe for Ed: Davis little boy who died Early this morning: was also called to see Rebecca Miller before sun rise Exceedingly hot thermometer 86 in the shade on out north portico = Charley and Dora went to N Fulford to the last Archery meeting of the season -

64 Clear and Cloudy N.W October Saturday, 4th 1879 Took Harriet and Edwd: with me and went to R B Phelp's to see his wife's sister Mifs Jennie Carr - also went to see Robt Campbell both in Howard Co: Sarah Edwards called - Charley went fox hunting after store closed - home by 12 o' clock bright moonlight.

65 Clear S.W. Sunday, 5th Beautiful day - Harriet, Willie and I went to Meeting. Bro C called. Also Granville Stabler. Lewellen Massey here and had teeth extracted, Rich'd Addison and David Reid here for advice &c - Charley went to Henson Hill's, Riverside &c

66 Clear S.W. Monday, 6 Uncle Henson came and Mow'd Millet Dora Rode "Betty" to "Homewood" and back before dinner. Discharged the boy Charles Johnson. Went to E P Thomas (afternoon) to see about cow - After tea Sent [illegible] Charley to see him further about it -
