Clear S W May Saturday, 10 1879 Went to Warwick Miller's to see Robert. Charles and the "fall's parts" got home about 3 p.m. I remade the front gate, painted it and put up. The sign here tofore on the office at Ashton.

Clear S.W. Sunday, 11 Went to Warwick Millers and Albert Hood's. Ernest hined here. Harry and Helen called. Also Susan Crumpton for advice &c. Charly and Dora went to Fulford to tea.

60 Clear and Cloudy S.W. Monday, 12 Quite warm. Had buggy ties cut. Went to "Alloway". Afternoon the Milses Wilson here for advice &c. Went to Ashton in omnibus and brought home my office desk &c. Frank Gilpin here in evening and took Charley away somewhere.

65 Cloudy S.W. May Tuesday, 13 1879 Mrs Conelly here with little daughter and had teeth extracted before breakfast. Went to "Allway" to Alfred Hood's and to Spencerville.

Cloudy and Clear S.E. 67 Wednesday, 14 Went to "Allway" via Holland's corner. "Bettie" fell down at Ashton and broke the "pole" of the buggy. Willie and Israel handed the ballance of the things from the old office at Ashton. Wm H Farquhar's new barn was raised.

Clear and Cloudy S.E. 65 Thursday, 15 Sent snail with "Polly" to Sam Budd's and had her shed "all around" Mils Corrie Miller horse before breakfast. Went to Allway. Charly quite sick, unable to go to store after dinner. Went again to "Allway" after supper. Harry and Helen Lea spent evening here.

60 Cloudy and Sunshine S.W. May Friday, 16 1879 Rain before day light. Went to "Allway". Gave key of old office at Ashton to Chas Porter. Son Charley quite unwell. Thunder gust afternoon sent Israel and Willie to Homewood in omnibus for some straw. E Dickinson spent evening and night with us.

Rain showers and Cloudy 63 Saturday, 17 S.W. Went to "Allway". E Dickenson went with me as far as Wm Lea's. Chas Howard and wife here for advice and med for latter. E T and I made and put up spouting to the back of the house. Bro: Chas: came for advice and med: for Ernest and Thos: Lea called.

Cloudy and Rain S E. 61 Sunday, 18 Went to Riverside called at "Homewood" went to "Allway" and home via "Hollins Corner". Charley with me. Rain most of the afternoon. Purchased pair of colored spectacles for Harriet from traveling agent stopping at Moab White's.

62 Cloudy and Showery S.W. May Monday, 19th 1879 Ernest brought "cultivator" over. I went to "Allway". P.T Stabler here for advice and med: for wife. Sent Willie to Fulford before breakfast for tomato plants.

Cloudy S.E. 65 Tuesday, 20 Grand Convention at Rockville to lessen taxation. Went to Brighton took Willie with me Rained hard whilst there. Reed and answered letters from S D Coale Balto: and J M Carpenter Lancaster Pa. Ernest here in the evening had some music.

Foggy Early, Clear later S.E. 65 Wednesday, 21st Martha Johnson (colored) here for treatment for her eyes. Granville Stabler here for treatment for felon. Jno: C Bentley called. Went to Jas H Owen's to see infant (convulsions) Very warm in sun Sent Israel to see Campbell about wood.

Clear N.W. May Thursday, 22 1879 Beautiful day - altered the "Omnibus" so that I can take off the top and use it to haul hay, wood & [?]. Also oiled the curtains. Ruth A. Snowden here for advice. Bro R called Sent Israel to P. S Stabler's for hay - he brought 4.30 lbs - Charley went to "musical" at Jos: T Moore's in evening.

Friday, 23d Ed Dickinson here I took him to Fulford & made a call. Bro: R dined here. I took Harriet, Dora, Willie, Edmund & Bro: R to Homewood in the Omnibus - Washington Murphy & Louisa Howard here for advice & medicine. Mr Woodhall stopped for advice & c for R H Miller with a note from Marg M Miller Sent [quassion] &

45 Clear Saturday, 24th N. W. Went to [Wark]: Miller's W S [Borib's] & Leawood Mill's before dinner cullivated [?] potatoes afternoon. Took Harriet, Dora, Willie & Edward (in omnibus) to Fulford to bid Fanny & E Dickinson goon bye they expecting to leave for Wellsborough on Monday -

63 Cloudy & Drizzle Early SCloudy most of the day May Sunday, 25 1879 Washington Murphy here for advice [?]. Charley went to Fulford to dine afternoon made target & practiced with bow & arrows - Charley & Dora took a ride on horse back. Ernest & Frank Snowden called.

Cloudy Monday, 26th Fixed lock on rubber block and seats in omnibus. Went to Fulford. Went to Saml Jone's on Ed Hills place after tea to see Squirrells wife who had been knocked in the hed by her husband.

Cloudy S. W. 65 Tuesday, 27th Tonite cool: Fire in dining room all forenoon. Went to Wamer Cook's Alped Hood's "Allway" & Saml Jone's. home via "Holland's Corner."

61 Clear Cool Windy N.W. May Wednesday, 28 1879 Henson Hill came to haul slabs for us. Caleb Stabler brought Martha Johnson to be prescribed for and left her until after "meeting".

63 Clear S.W. Thursday, 29th Henson Hill here helping fix and "clean up" about back shed kitchen porch &c. Mr Robt Harding delivered 1 1/4 cords pine wood on Campbells account. Went to Alfred Hood's, War'k P Miller's. Washington Murphy's and J H Owen's. Dora, Charley and Willie went to Lyceum in the evening to an "old folks" concert given by the "Musical society.

Clear S.W. 65 Friday, 30th Frank L Wilson here for advice &c. Henson Hill here "tinkering" at old shed &c.

70 Clear N.W. May Saturday, 31st 1879 Henson Hill here at work all day Took Harriet and baby and went to see R Kelly and via G E Brooke's to Brookville and had crystal put in my watch. L Harding brought us 1/2 cord of pine in excess of R Campbell's bill. Charley took Israel and omnibus and brough 10 bushels of oats from J Holladn's. Matilda Tasker called. F Snowden took tea here.

["Illegible"] Sunday, June 1st Was called up at 2 a.m. to prescribe for Mrs Albin Gilpin. Mrs F Stabler and Wm S Bond called. Went to A Hood's Wm S Bond's and Wash: Memphis and home via "Hollands Corner". Charley with me. Jno Ed: Hill's wife called for advice and med:

70 Clear S.W. ["Illegible"] Monday, 2d Quite warm. Afternoon took Harriet, Dora, Willie and Edwd: in the "omnibus" and drove over to escape a thunder gust. Gave Israel "Holyday".

70 Rain S.E. June Tuesday, 3 1879 About home all forenoon. Took Harriet, Dora, Willie and Edwd: to Fulford (in omnibus) to a meeting of the Horticultural Society. Showers of rain at intervals all day. Sent horses and omnibus home by Israel until after tea to be out of the rains.

70 Clear Wednesday, 4th N.W. Took Willie and went to M W Murphy's Alfred Hood's and War'k Miller's. Afternoon wen (on horseback) with Dora to Saml Ellicott's left her there. Went to P.T Stabler's to see Mrs S. Robt Blair called. Also Pat: Cuff Jr:. Charley went after his sister after store time

Clear N.W. 68 Thursday, 5th Arose at 4.30 this morning discharged Israel Budd first thing for disobedience and general chronic worthlessness. Went to Murphy's met Dr S Gray (in consultation) afternoon went to Bleu H Miller's. Got new collar for "Polly".

68 Clear N.W. June Friday, 6 1879 Hired boy Charles Johnson at five dollars per month commencing today. Went to M W Murphy's to Alfred Hood's and to Spencerville. Rachael Kelly's mother here for advice and med for Rachel.

Clear Cold NW 60 Saturday, 7 Went to M W Murphy's who died whilst I was there (at 10.40 am) of abcess of the spleen. Went also to Alfred Hood's. E Peirce brought his daughter Alice and left her with Dora. Jno C Bentley called.

68 Clear NW Sunday, 8 Beautiful day "Quarterly meeting" Sunday. A very large "turn out" to meeting. Jno: Howell from Louden CO: Va here. Ernest and Alice Pieree were all the company we had to dinner. Mrs Chalfants little servant girl here for advise and med:. Charley rode to Riverside after tea.
