Clear N.W. 68 Beautiful Day June Monday, 9 1879 Baby Edwd's third birthday. Large gathering of "Friend's" at the business and relief was granted meeting at Sandy Spring. Bros: Charles and Richard and Lissie dined with us. Jno: Howell called. Also cousins Ellie Chandlee and Martha Lea. Saml Mebane called.

68 Clear N.W. Tuesday, 10 Took Harriet, Dora, Alice Pierce, Willie and Baby Edwd: in omnibus to Leawood Mills and got some flour. Benj H Miller sent for advise and med for Mrs M.

69 Clear S.W. Wednesday, 11 Took Dora and Alice Pierce to Riverside and Homewood. Left Alice at the latter place. Thunder gust in the afternoon quite heavy thunder. Fixed up the old violin once more and enjoyed it much hope it my be as fine toned as ever.

Clear and Cloudy June Thursday, 12 1879 Sent Chas Johnson to P.J. Stabler's and got 555 lbs of hay. Rain afternoon. Hung door to hay mow ground scythe mow'd around the house. Went to "Kentmere" to see servant woman "Annie". Frank G taking and bringing me home in his buggy.

Clear and Cloudy N.W. Friday, 13 Warm Went to "Kentmere" and Fulford also to Ashton to Mrs Abel's. Sandy Scrivner called. Willie went to Archery meeting at Ashton and Charley to a party at "Rockland". Commenced fixing weahter boarding for shed for omnibus. Making it of jointed slabs.

Clear N.W. 70 Saturday, 14 Worked at weather boarding wagon shed. Took Dora and Edwd a ride via Ashton. "Homewood Osceola", new cut soad Sandy Spring and home. Charley went home with Ernest after store time to spend the night.

71 Clear and Cloudy Some wind S.W. June Sunday, 15th 1879 Saml Jones brought Ruthie Squirrel to have wounds examined and dressed. Charley and Dora went to Riverside to dinner. I wrote to J. S. P. Charly went after tea to Rockland and Fulford Home about 11-p.m.

Monday, 16 Thunder gust after mid night last night. Drove H. D. W and E to Fulford for E's crib. About home all the rest of day. Ernest dined here and came again in evening and had music.

Clear and Calm Tuesday, 17th Went to A G Thorn's (to infant Helen injured left hand) to A Hood's and vaccinated Mebane's infant. Mrs Knight brought me 4 spring chickens.

50 Clear N.W. June Wednesday, 18 1879 Quite cold and chilly. Fir in dining room. Until noon. After noon went to Leawood Mills and Riverside.

56 Clear N.W. Thursday, 19th Henson Hill came to work. Went through potatoes with cultivator and hauled slabs from Lea's steam saw mill.

55 Clear N W Friday, 20 Still cold for the time of year. Made and repaired seats for the "omnibus". Afternoon Charly took a load in said omnibus from Fulford to an archery meeting at "Alway". Another needless [illegible] to play with Willie. Jas Marlow here for advice and med:

64 Clear N.W. June Saturday, 21 1879 Henson Hill worked all day in the garden. I made frames and put up mosquito netting to door and windows in our chamber. Went to A.G Thoma's and dressed wound in infants hand.

65 Cloudy S.E. Sunday, 22 About home all day. Ernest dined here. Rained in afternoon. Smoked and read most of the day. Enjoyed exclusion of flies in our room thanks to mosquito netting. A G Thomas brought child and had injured hand dressed.. Charley Dora and E Stabler went to Jas: Hallowells after an early supper.

Monday, 23 70 Clear S.W Amelia Spriggs here with her infant daughter for advice and med: Sent med and presenp to Matilda Hood by Hamilton Johnson. Jno C Bentley cut field of wheat opposite our house.

70 Clear S.W. June Tuesday, 24 1879 Louisa Howard called. Took Harriet, Dora, Willie and Edwd (in omnibus) to Riverside, also called at Homewood. Charley got old "no top" buggy from Nelson. Very warm but nice breeze most of the day. Charley went to the river for a bath after night.

68 Cloudy and Rain S.E. Wednesday, 25 Worked at the old buggy all forenoon. A G Thomad called with his little girl for advice &c. Mrs Caroline Scott also called for advice and med: Charley quite sick at the stomach after dinner, did not return to the store until after an early tea.

Thursday, 26th 70 Clear S.E. Took Harriet and all the children to Riverside in Omnibus Supposed "mad dog" created disturbance in village biting several dogs three of which were killed. Ours not touched fortunately. They killed the dog at Ashton.

71 Clear and Hot June Friday, 27th 1879 William Mitchell here for advice and medicine. Bro: R dined with us. Willie went to Ashton "Archery Club" Afternoon. Ernest and Frank Gilpin here in evening. Charley went away with them on horseback and returned about 11 o'clock p.m.

Clear and Cloudy 71 Hot Saturday, 28 Ruth Squirrel here and had tooth extracted. Mrs: A.G Thomas here with little Helen to have hand examined. Went to Fulford in omnibus and sent Chas Johnson and Willie on to Sharon and got 10 bushels of oats from J.P. Stabler. Jno: Cook (from the Manor) here for advice and treatment for eyes. Emma Squirrel had teeth extracted. Mr and Mrs Coar called latter had teeth extracted. Heavy rain in afternoon.

Clear and Cloudy SW 73 Sunday, 29 Frank Snowden here with Charly until meetin time. Wrote to sister Mary. Charly and Willie roder to Riverside on horseback after dinner. Ernest here to tea. Charly and Dora took a ride on horseback after tea. Mr Barnum from Washington called for advice and med: for his wife.

Clear N.W. June 65 Monday, 30 1879 Quite cool with some wind from N.W. Charlotte Budd here for advice and med:

Clear Tuesday, July 1st Worked at buggy body. Wm Platt brought his daughter to have tooth out. Mrs Als Thoms here with her daughter Helen.

68 Clear N.W. Wednesday, 2 Charley and Edwd both sick with nausia &c all last night and today. Went to Alfd Hood's Leawood Mills and &c. Went to [illegible]. Wm Kirk died at 299 Madison Av: Balto: about 5-30 p.m. of "cancer of neck".

72 Clear SW July Thursday, 3 1879 Exceedingly warm day. Worked at buggy body. Charley and Edwd better. Ella Platt here and had another [touchocet]?. Do not feel well, the hot weather hainf its usual effect upon me. Ernest I and Gilpin Stabler here in the evening. Had some music.

Clear S.W. 75 Friday, 4th Another hot day. Large "turnout" to a picnic Local option madd meeting at Rockville. I did not go fearing the heat both for my self and horses. "Primed" the running gear of light biggy. Charley went to the river for a bath, after tea.

70 Clear N.W. Saturday, 5 Beautiful day. Painted light buggy body and "hung" it. Went to Mrs Chalfants after bed time and prescribed for her. P. T Stabler sent us a three horse load of hay.

68 Clear N.W. July Sunday, 6th 1879 Another lovely day, fine breeze. Afternoon went to Mrs Chalfants. Charley took Dora to E Peirce's and he and Willie went to the rived for a bath at Riverside.

50 Clear NW Monday, 7th Quite cool and breezy. Painted the light buggy running gear. Went to Fulford and Riverside to see after our colt that has been joined by the cattle.

70 Tuesday, 8th Rained in the night (last night). R T B and wife left for the sea side. Annie Addison here for advise &c. Cousin Martha Lea here and had tooth out. Went to Mr. F. Wilson's before dinner.
