Juicy check from home, a $35 spot. Also a letter from Woodie Stafford — nee Bozzell. She had been married seven months and wanted me to send her a suitable list of names for babies. She sys there is no special hurry however. We

had a melo-drama in our room at night to drown out the drunks down the range. Had a bum leg & couldn't sleep.

March 25 Sleepy as hell in the morning. Had to hurry for breakfast & then get up lecture. Went in town &

paid some bills. Letter from Blanch. I see some prospect of the surprise. She speaks with insinuations of an Easter rabbit. Rehearsed my speech with J. D. [John Donelson] Martin (class of 1905) for contest to-morrow night. He doesn't seem to be a very dangerous competer. Went around at night with [George Arthur] Paddock (class of 1906) to
