Dear Sir:

In view of the fact that you are such a believer in "human rights" for all, it is my feeling that the following letter which I have just written to Mr. Mart W. Hanegraff, Accredited VA Representative, Catholic War Veterans, Kimberly, Wisconsin, in reference to the flagrant violation of my human rights by the Negroes, will not fail to be of interest to you and that you will take the proper steps in my behalf to undo as much as possible the gross wrong and injustice that had been done to me by Negro detective Dewey Russ in connection with a brutal, brainless, and sadistic attack that had been made on my sick person by a member of his race for no reason at all other than the savage delight he had derived from it. This man, if he can be called a man, had acted more like an enraged beast than a human being when he attacked me, while I was only a blameless bystander, minding my own business. I'm sure I don't know the answer to his moronic motivations. I doubt whether even a psychiatrist could plum it. Many of the Negroes, adult and teenager alike, have been making senseless attacks all over the country including the shooting of a "brotherhood" leader, a white man, in Chicago, not long ago. These uncivilized creatures need no reason. They slap people around for absolutely nothing simply because they're appallingly stupid, indecent and immoral, and this is their lowdown way of life. These are the jerks whom we should regard as our "brothers", jerks who batter us just for the hell of it. Such individuals are our "burdens" rather than our brothers and we'll never recognize them as anything else. There is no excuse whatever for their barbaric behavior. If they want civil rights then why in the name of common sense don't they act like civilized people rather than a bunch of cannibals? They have thrice physically abused me for no reason at all. Three times is out! They have "whupped" me three times and it is now my turn. Let's see how they themselves like to be exposed for what they really are, let's see how their so-called "leaders", too, who have been making the lamentable and ludicrous excuses for local delinquency and crime like to have the whistle blown on their brainless blame fixing. A select few of them in this town have been trying to form public opinion about this matter. They have been trying to be spokesmen for the entire community. Where did they get that stuff, anyway? Who do they think they are "big wheels" or something and that the rest of us have nothing to say about it? We ourselves are not a bit interested in the excuses that have been advanced for her people by Alderman Vel Phillips.

Mrs. Phillips, a Negro woman as Alderman of this ward has been a miserable flop and a failure and it is our feeling that almost anybody would be an improvement over her. She, of course, as you know, is also your Democrat Committeewoman. She has done nothing to clean up the unclean and unsavory conditions in this community and we pray to God she is not re-elected. Furthermore, not once has she taken cognizance of any of my just complaints against her people. Well, just recently qite a considerable number of Negro ministers publicly announced that they are opposed to her re-election. They, too, want a new Alderman in this ward.

Anyway, what I started to say was that I wrote a letter to Mr. Hanegraaf of CWV which reads as follows:

"Just exactly how many more times must I tell you, before something is done about this gross wrong and injustice, that Mrs. Evans had been a witness to the wild and wanton and utterly unwarranted attack that had been made on my sick person at a Goodwill store while I was there with Mrs. Evans with whom the trouble started, but whose name as a participant as well as a witness was not reflected in the rotten and ridiculous police report that had been made on the matter by Negro detective Dewey Russ who had discredited me --- a blameless bystander, minding my own business when hit on the back of the neck and knocked down by a senseless savage who acted more like an enraged beast than a human being. Just what kind of a "Christian" are you, anyway? Don't you believe in fair play and justice? Frankly, I don't think that you do. If you do believe in fairplay and justice, however, then how does it follow that you, too, have failed to lift a finger to help me get retracted the obviously wrong and improper report?"

This is not a full or complete quotation of my letter to this "big Christian" gentleman. However, I have quoted the salient points. Detective Dewey Russ not only was dumb but dirty when he discredited as without any right or reason, and if the so-called "religious" people without any right or reason, and if the so-called "religious" people condone that sort of thing then they certainly are not true Christians. They're just a bunch of fakers, and hypocrites.

These senseless Negro attacks are now going on all over the country and they do it simply because they're not civilized. There is no other reason for such brainless and barbaric behavior. Many of the adult Negroes while resisting arrest even BITE the cops? Is that sort of thing human, I ask you? Naturally, not. It borders on cannibalism. In Chicago not long ago a gang of young Negroes senselessly shot a white "brotherhood" leader. Their trouble, too, was behind the ears. Teenage negro crime in Chicago, too, is way out of proportion to the boy population. Philadelphia, too, has its hands more than full with them. They're the same way throughout the entire country, "cukey." All mouth and no brains. They slap people around for the savage delight they derive from it. Many of the grownups are just as bad as the youngsters. However, we are now living in an age of extraordinary luxury and lust as well as in a world of liars and bearers of false witness against the innocent. Personally, I'm sick to death of hearing about "dedicated and sincere leaders." The little corporal with small mustache was also a "sincere and dedicated leader"...but a madman who murdered millions of innocent Jews. The truth of the matter is that we woefully lack real leadership, locally as well as elsewhere.

Dear Sir:

I have sent you and several others copies of my correspondence to Senator Russell of Georgia, which was self-explanatory, and it is earnestly hoped that something will be done about the matter. All me and my sick wife had ever wanted was peace and quiet and tranquility which we had been unable to get for a long time on account of being tormented nightly and called nasty sex names --- implying incestuous relations with one's mother! --- by a couple of young colored morons , a boy and a girl, by the name of John Pharr and Rose Means, had also made obscene gestures by placing his hands on his privates, at us. This, too, had been brought to the attention of the police who had failed to give us any protection against them. The cops unless they were dumber than I thought, might have known that this alone was a markedly abnormal thing and that there must have been something mentally wrong with Pharr. However, some of the cops we have here are not too bright themselves. Some of them, too, are immature and irresponsible and talked like idiots whenever we tried to talk sense with them about this matter. So we couldn't get anywhere and had to suffer night after night the tortures of the damned until the tormenters finally were arrested for slashing clothing with a razor at six stores after which demented deed they still were treated with remarkable tenderness. They treat the colored culprits tenderly in this miserable town and push their targets around, but if one tries to tell the truth about it, he is liable to get himself into trouble with the "authorities." These "authorities" actually get angry at the innocent victim who dares to complain about the colored culprits. They get mad at the abused rather than at the abuser! And if one complains too often they call him a "chronic complainer" or worse. Anything to hush up the complaints. This sort of thing, of course, is real cute and clever, or so they think. Several attempts had been made to silence me none of which had worked. The "big wheels" had tried to intimidate me. They had used their official positions to do this (Chicago style.) However, whenever I'm right about something and tell the gospel truth about it, why I'm beyone bluffing or intimidation. They had barged in on me like "gang busters" and tried to bluff, bully and browbeat me for telling the truth about the blacks. In addition to the Phar and means incidents three vicious and senseless attacks had also been made on my sick person by Negroes and by God, so long as we have free speech in this country no "cukey" cops are going to silence me on that score either.

If these people want civil rights then why in the name of common sense don't they act like civilized human beings rather than savages with sticks through their noses; why don't they live by the law of the land and cut out battering innocent white citizens, cursing and insulting us, calling us nasty sex names, etc., for no reason at all other than the savage delight they derive from it?

Not a small segment of them do these things. What's more they are doing it in every major city in the country, you know. They have made a shambles of every big city in the country with their stupid, sadistic attacks and barbaric behavior bordering on the insane. They stupidly slap others around just for the hell of it. They do these things not because of the popular excuse "poor housing" but simply because they are indecent and immoral and have no regard for the feelings of others. But, of course, when the shoe is on the other foot, then it is an entirely different story, and they yell "prejudice" or " bigotry" or both. Well, we happen to have black bigots, too, you know who hate us white people.

Anyway, if we treated them the way they have tormented and abused us why we long ago would have been chased out of the city as a couple of "racists." The northern politicians, of course, are now beating the bushes for their votes, and that's about all they're interested in. They talk about "human rights for all" but this is absolutely meaningless. It is mere lip service. Well, we ourselves are voting for none of them. Not until they alter their onesided attitude.

None of them have ever helped us. I had asked Senator Humphrey and several others to lend us their assistance. Nothing doing. The northern press, too, has gone negro nuts. They have editorialized the California convict Chessman, but don't say or write a single word about the colored rapists of our white women and young girls. One local negro alone had raped 13 women! What's more he had a mile long previous police record. If Chessman deserves to die then so does this thirteen times rapist. Chessman had done nothing that thousands of Negro sex offenders and rapists have not done. So let's have a uniform law throughout the country. The Negroes, of course, have been clamoring for federal anti-lynch legislation. By all means let them have it. But, at the same time let them also have federal anti-rape legislation making rape a federal offense with a death sentence mandatory. Otherwise, they'd eat their cake and have it, too. In other words, the anti-lynch legislation would save their hides but would be of no help to the victim. It should be tit for tat or nothing at all. The negroes have raped our women, young and old, grandmothers and little girls alike. In Chicago not long ago a Negro man forced at knife point a little girl to leave a Catholic church with him, where this tot had been kneeling at prayer, then brutally raped the child! The pint I'm trying to make is that nothing is sacred to them and they now are even invading the House of God for the purpose of rape! The guy that did this ought to be boiled in oil, of course. He was nothing but a filthy, lowdown animal. Never mind Chessman. Let them instead lock in our own backyards, and scream about the horrible things the blacks are doing in the North. Compared to this Little Rock has been a Sunday school picnic. Banner headlines are used whenever the Negroes have been hurt or think they have been hurt. But they did not use it on the Negro bombers either and barely brought it up. Senator Russell, of course, knows the score and I'm sending him a copy of this letter, too.
