Dear Sir:

This is in further reference to the three wild and wanton and wholly unwarranted attacks that have been made on my sick and suffering person as a totally disabled veteran, by negroes, adult and teenager alike for no reason at all other than the savage and sadistic delight they had derived from it. Speaking of "brotherhood", this in my book is defined simply as affording others the same rights, respect and dignity you wish for yourself, which I myself definitely have never gotten in connection with any of complaints against the negroes who have physically and otherwise abused me and my sick wife. Consequently, the "brotherhood" stuff is just a bundle of baloney. It is just "sucker bait," in my opinion, and does not mean a thing where we white citizens or our "human rights" are concerned . Anyway, nothing, not a single, solitary thing has been done about the fact that I have been the victim of three vicious and utterly unprovoked attacks by negroes. In fact, instead of being helped by anybody including professed "Christians" and Catholics, attempts afterwards had been made to silence me about these three attacks, particularly the one that had been made on me at a nearby Goodwill store, sometime ago, While I had been there with Mrs. Evans with whom the trouble had started when she was insulted and cursed by a couple of colored boys but whose name as a participant as well as a witness was not reflected in the rotten and ridiculous written report that had been submitted on the incident by negro detective Dewey Russ, who in his false, malicious and misleading report discredited me, when I was only a blameless bystander minding my own business when hit on the back of the neck, knocked down and injured by one of his trib, who had acted more like an enraged beast than a human being. My only offense was the fact that I happened to be on the scene with Mrs. Evans. Needless to say, only indecent idiots attack innocent people, and we have plenty of them in this community, adult and juvenile alike. As a matter of fact, I have never before seen such strange standards and peculiar personalities in my life. Yet, these are the kind of jerks whom we are supposed to recognize as our "brothers." Can you or anybody else name just one reason why we should do this foolhardy thing? Should we allow these idiots to slap us around, then turn the other cheek and call them "brother" after they have battered us? Well, these people are wicked people, basically bad people, who abuse the police as well as others as something drastic will have to be done to curb it not only here but throughout the country. Chicago and other major cities are putting up with a lot of "colored crap", too. In fact, just recently a gang of young Negro criminals senselessly shot a white "brotherhood" leader!

Senator Russell has said that the Negro crime rate compared to other citizens is 10 to 1, which is some record! Of course, they also excel in "bastardy." They're the leaders in illegitimacy, too.

In fact, in the city of Chicago 89% of ADC goes to Negro children about half of whom were born out of wedlock! The "population explosion" has just commenced to come home to roost! They are multiplying like rabbits all over the country. But, of course, they have got a real cute and clever excuse for that, too, a nice convenient excuse that the poor, little children are not to blame. Maybe not. But it so happens that the unwed mother not the offspring collects and cashes the ADC checks and it has been known that she has blown in part of it in bars on her boyfriends!

Anyway, unlike for us disabled veterans there are no rules or regulations or "determining authorities" for these unwed tramps who get paid for performing between the percales, no limit as to the number of illegitimate children each may bring into the world, one or a dizen or even more and they actually are treated far better than us disabled veterans, by Uncle Sam and the VA. These tramps too are treated tenderly just as the delinquents, hoodlums and criminals and attackers are tenderly treated while the innocent target of these indecent, immoral and ignorant imbeciles are pushed around.

Now, then, I repeatedly have asked the mayor to cause a retraction of the stupid, stumbling and bumbling police report that had been made by negro detective Dewey Russ on the Goodwill store incident which report definitely was not based on the facts but the mayor, too, has refrained from so doing. Then, too, our Alderman Mrs. Vel Phillips, a Negro woman who claims to be a "Christian" has taken absolutely no cognizance of my complaint about the "fixed" report nor anything else pertaining to the numerous indecencies and abuses Mrs. Evans and I had been subjected to by her people, which were terrible ordeals causing the both of us the most terrific tension. These people have become bold and brazen and entirely too big for their britches, and by God, I'm sick to death of being battered by them. They're certainly not my "brothers." I don't care myself to be related to animals or uncivilized beasts with a barbaric code of conduct who booze and brawl, beat up people, shoot, stab, rob, and rape. They, of course, have committed some of the most hair-raising rapes in the country. The newspapers, however, bury such things on the back page...but editorialize the California convict, Chessman. The papers have picked Chessman while overlooking many hair raising rapes committed by colored rapists on white women and children such as the one in Chicago when a negro man at knife point forced a little white girl to leave a Catholic church (where the child had been kneeling at prayer!) With him and then pitilessly raped this little tot. The point is that our women and children are not even safe in the house of God from negro rapists. This "church" rape was just as bad if not worse than Chessman's crimes, you know. Personally, I think it was worse than murder, and that if Chessman deserves to die then so does the negro "church" rapist. I believe moreover that Senators Russell and Eastland will agree with me on that score.

Dear Sir:

Answers you have been giving on the phone to people who called you up about the so-called civil rights legislation presently before the Senate, certainly have not been accurate or astute. Senator Richard R. Russell a gentleman of no small stature and erudition recently said that the Negro crime rate compared to other citizens is 10 to 1! Which, of course, is more like it in every major city in the country, and you can't as an intelligent man help knowing it. Furthermore, their crimes are far from "petty crimes." In this city, for instance, most of the major crimes have been committed by colored citizens. No indeed crime is not exclusive with them and you're perfectly right about that part of the situation. However, rights entail responsibility and too many of them at the present time are irresponsible. Whover their bad traits are brought up to you, your cute retort is "all of them?" No, of oucrse not all of them. We all know that. However, you might say the same and still be on the safe side if 99% of them were bad. So, what does that prove? You did admit, however, and I want to give you full credit for it, that whenever a negro is arrested and goes to court there is always someone sitting alongside of him to help plead his case and that the usual cry is "prejudice." You also propounded the thought provoking question, "why don't they ever help a poor white man?" I'll tell you why: simply because none of the negro organizations or so-called "leaders" are interested in our welfare or well-being. If this is not so, then I dare you to name just one who is. None of them, for instance, have been a bit concerned about the three wild and wanton attacks that have been made by negroes on my sick and suffering person, as a totally disabled veteran who had honorably served his country at the tender age of fourteen.

None of the so-called negro "leaders" including our Alderman, Mrs. Vel Phillips have ever taken any cognizance of my many complaints relating to this physical abuse by these uncivilized savages who have thrice attacked, hurt and injured me, for no reason at all other than the crazy, senseless and sadistic satisfaction they had derived from it. These three attacks, by no means, had been isolated or rare incidents; they had happened quite frequently on the street particularly last summer to many other white citizens. I wasn't the only one, mind you. Well, can you think of an 'cute' excuse for the numerous street attacks here by the negroes?

Like "poor housing" (instead of poor character), which, of course, is just as "popular" an excuse as "prejudice" and equally ludicrous. Naturally, citizens of good moral character, can live in a cave and still be decent and law-abiding people, you know. I myself had been born and raised to the age of 10 in a lousy shack and I do mean shack...in a small coal mining town, in Ohio. So what?

Today, of course, as you yourself had stressed, we have no leadership in this country. A good leader, of course, must have ability as well as authority. Well, we have no local leaders either. However, we do have a few "handpicked" ones to handle the "human rights" business which as far as protecting the rights of we white citizens is concerned, is a big bundle of baloney. It is strictly one-sided. It is exclusively for the protection of the negroes. Even our clergymen are only interested in the "human rights" of the colored citizens here. They, too, pass the buck whenever a white citizen complains about being abused by a negro.

This, as God is my witness, is the gospel truth.

Now, then, inasmuch as you once again had made reference to the Chessman case, I repeat that many Negroes both locally and elsewhere have been committing hair-raising rapes but none of these cases have ever been editorialized. In fact, the Negro rapists have been invading the House of God for their victims and nothing in the world could possibly be any rottener than that, you know. That was the end!

You spoke of Negro men like Carver and Bunsche. How many colored citizens of their caliber do we have in this country, chum?

Personally, I want you to know that I have not a prejudiced bone in my body. But, facts are facts and no "colored crap" should be foisted on the public. Never mind education or lack of it either for I happen to know quite a few illiterate but decent and law abiding citizens who can neither read nor write. I myself had no formal education but even today I'd rather read a good book than to booze or brawl like a damned idiot. Cars they buy and polish, but buy no books to polish their brains. Incidentally, till the day the died my parents had struggled, as the dependent parents of three totally disabled veterans and lived in substandard dwellings, in Chicago. The truth is that the Negroes have never had it so good and are biting the hand that is feeding them. The younger punks need a good, swift kick in the backside, not crazy coddling. The foolish imbeciles scream on the street like wounded banshee and jump up and down like freaks, and laugh at everything and nothing like a bunch of hyenas. To them even a funeral is "funny."

Anyway I'm taking absolutely no more of their abuse or what they call "whupping." Three times is out! The Catholics, too, can have them if that is their taste. We can't stand their guts. Their color has nothing to do with it. It is their casual code of morals, their innate indecency, their woeful ignorance, all of which in America are inexcusable. Never mind the school alibi. We have plenty of book stores and public libraries. One easily can learn if he wants to learn. They learn all the bad things without any trouble, you know.

Dear Sir:

Speaking further about "human rights" why words cannot adequately express how heartsick I'm feeling about the three vicious and utterly unprovoked attacks that have been made by the Negroes on my sick and suffering body as a totally disabled veteran, nor can I adequately express the feeling of frustration due to my inability to get any help from anybody in connection with the flagrant violation of my human rights. Anyway, it is too bad that my picture was not take or published in the newspapers after one of these brainless and brutal attacks. If it had I am wondering if any congressman or any other white citizen who has written letters to the editor would crow over that? Well, I doubt it very much. As I had said in past correspondence, it all depends on whose ox has been gored and whenever the races are reversed then it is an entirely different story. These three horrible and harrowing experiences which had caused me terrific tension, have worsened my general health as well as made me heartsick. In fact, I'm so sick at heart that I'd like to go just as far away as possible from this miserable and coddling city, where the rankest and rottenest discrimination in the country has been displayed in favor of the negroes. I could cite quite a few instances, if I thought it would do any good. But I won't. All I will say is that as God is my witness this is the truth. Telling the truth, however, although we are supposed to have free speech, can get one into trouble for complaining about the colored citizens, the "untouchables." Anyway, following one of the attacks attempts had been made by the "authorities" to silence me! This, too, is the gospel truth. Whenever a white person registers a complaint against a colored person why he has not the chance of a snowball in hell in this city. We (Mrs. Evans and I) found this fact out the hard way. We found out that where white citizens are concerned the "human rights" business is just a big bundle of baloney; that it is strictly a one way street, exclusively for the so-called "minority group." There is a select few in and out of City Hall who are running the show and we the people have got absolutely nothing to say about how it should be run. That, in a nutshell, is the situation. I might add the stupid situation. None of the so-called Negro "leaders" either are a bit concerned about the violation of our human rights. Neither are the Catholics, of which I formerly had been one but am presently "fallen-away" because I could not stomach what they stood for. They too, had failed to lift a finger to help me.
