Dear Miss Kelly:
Mrs. Griggs, without even considering the fact whether on our small and fixed income of disability compensation, it would be feasible, had suggested that we move as a solution to the negro problem. Naturally, if and when we moved, we wanted to move into a better class neighborhood, where we might not be bothered, as we had been for several years, by the blacks. In other words, it was not just the idea of moving to a different location, any kind of location for that would be merely jumping from the frying pan into the fire. Financially, of course, it was not possible for us to pay a high rental, which did not leave us much choice. Furthermore, we could not understand just why a sick couple like ourselves who had done no wrong should move for the negro wrongdoers, like, for instance, John Pharr and the young Negress Rose Means, who had been teasing, tormenting, harassing and calling us vile names nightly, for a long while, without any letup prior to their arrest for slashing clothing, with a razor at six stores, which demented deed they told the police they had done to "amuse" themselves. Inasmuch as they had been calling us nasty sex names nightly...implying incestuous relations with one's mother...they evidently got some sort of "sex satisfaction" out of this name calling...as well as out of the clothes slashing episodes at the six stores with a razor. In fact, it is quite obvious that Pharr who had also made obscene gestures at us by placing his hand on his privates...did get a sex thrill out of this sort of thing. Anyway, no boy or girl in full possession of their mental faculties would do such rotten, filthy, lowdown stuff, you know. In fact, only morons would do it. As I repeatedly have stated in rior correspondence, we had suffered the tortures of the damned from this pair. It was a perfectly terrible ordeal, particularly for Mrs. Evans. Had the races been reversed, then our pictures, too, might have been in the papers. That's what they do whenever an innocent negro has been harmed or abused in any way by the whites, you know. Whenever innocent blacks have been mistreated it is news; but whenever we whites have been mistreated by the blacks it is not news! How come? Maybe the self-styled "champions of human rights for all" know the answer, if you don't know it yourself, Miss Kelly. Or, perhaps the Journal knows the answer. Anyway, we will move all right...just as far away as possible from the negroes. We want to isolate ourselves from them. The middle-class people who have been moving into the suburbabs are trying to do exactly that, too.

These suburbanites are trying to isolate and 'insulate' themselves...and we don't blame them, for it is hell on earth to live among the blacks who booze and brawl and beat people up. Not even to mention the hair raising rapes, robberies, shootings and stabbings, etc.
It seems to me that many of our own citizens, because of the fact that such crimes are now commonplace throughout the country have been "conditioned" to these crimes...and consequently are not bothered a bit by them. Anyway, there is quite a contrast between the conduct of the American Chinese and the American Negro as outlined in a recent "Green Sheet" which you probably have read. The orientals are not raping our women and children, or cutting up each other, etc., despite the fact that they are crowded "wall to wall" in Chicago's Chinatown as well as elsewhere. These wonderful people behave and conduct themselves like human beings, rather than savages, therefore their "leaders" have to concoct no stupid excuses for them such as "economic" (for illegitimacy) "poor housing" (for juvenile delinquency and crime), etc. Well, are not the Chinese a "minority group", too? A smaller "minority group" than the negroes? So what has that got to do with basic deceney? Not a single, solitary thing, of course. It is high time that the so-called negro "leaders" cut out concocting foolish excuses which are "convenient crutches" to cover up a multitude of their sins and to start talking a little sense.
Mrs. Evans was born in Wisconsin, she is a native daughter...so she, too, should "move" to make room for the black morons, eh? She is a "liability", too, and the morons are an "asset", I suppose. Fine. At least we now know just where we stand, that we are considered even less than "second class" citizens...in this city.
Three cheers for the "dynamic leaders" and the "dedicated" people in City Hall. Don't think for a minute that we have been taken in...by any one of them.

Dear Sir:
Economically, as outlined in my last letter, to Mrs. I.Q. Griggs, of the Milwaukee Journal staff, a carbon copy of which I am enclosing for your further information, it was not feasible financially, out of our small, fixed income of disability compensation, to move from here to a more desirable or decent locality where we might not be bothered by the blacks who had been making life miserable for us two sick people, particularly the John Pharr and Rose Means gang of young negroes who almost drove us nuts with the nightly sex name calling and other harassment prior to their arrest for slashing clothing at six stores with a razor. The Negress, Rose Means, as stated in the enclosure was 19-years old at the time, or a grownup woman and consequently her crazy actions, too, was indefensible. Of course, we did not know, nor did the police tell us, her true age. While she and Pharr had been tormenting us. We had been under the impression, utnil her arrest for the clothes cutting capers, that she, too, was a minor. Otherwise, of course, we would have taken out a warrant for her arrest. The cops, when we complained about Pharr and Means, had referred to them as "those two kids", so we just naturally took it for granted that both of them were minors. Needless to say, the cops themselves had been 'covering up' for Rose Means so far as her true age, too, was concerned, which was a dirty, rotten shame. It also was a pretty stupid, cheap and tawdry trick to pull off on us. It was in fact, on par with the cheap and cowardly stunt that negro detective Dewey Russ had pulled off on me in connection with the rotten and ridiculous police report he had made on the Goodwill store incident wherein he asininely had asserted that this incident did not happen the way I said it had happened and that I (the innocent victim) was only trying to make trouble. He, too, so far, has gotten away with it. Why? Because he happens to have a tin badge? What did I do to deserve being discredited by a dumb (and I use the word advisedly) detective? Anyway, if you are indeed a champion of human rights for all...then how come that you, too, are reluctant to do the right thing about helping me to have this mean and malicious report retracted? This man had added insult to injury, you know. He had in fact, in a most cowardly and malicious manner compounded the misery.
Mayor Zeidler, too, still is nuts whenever I ask him to cause a retraction of this "fixed" police report. So are the Catholics and other professed "Christians" silent. Their conscience seemingly does not bother them a bit whenever the injured party is a Caucasian and they only commiserate with the colored citizens or concerned with their "rights," exclusively.

Dear Mrs. Griggs:
I am enclosing herewith, for your further information, carbon copy of a letter I have just written to the above-named Chinese couple, whose wise and wonderful remarks I had read yesterday in your paper, and I have also given them a few facts relating to the three tension-laden and wholly unwarranted attacks that have been made on me by the Negroes, concerning which everybody, including City Hall has been totally nuts. The professed "champions of human rights for all" as well as the Catholic War Veterans have been utterly silent, too. As I had said in prior correspondence, the tension from these three attacks, particularly the one that was made on me at a nearby Goodwill store, had been terrific, and had aggravated my health in all areas. This case, of course, had been "fixed" by the colored detective Dewey Russ, who had made a false, malicious and misleading report on the matter which rotten and ridiculous report I repeatedly have requested them to retract, but which they have refrained from doing. I have frequently asked Mayor Zeidler to cause a retraction of this obviously wrong and improper report, but he, too, has disregarded my letters. Of course, from all of the factual information I had given you in past letters, why you, too, can't help but know that the report on the Goodwill store incident was wrong and improper; that it added insult to injury as well as compounded the felony, so to speak. You, too, can't help knowing that Dewey Russ was guilty of omission and commission. I do not care at this time to give a complete resume for I've done that already, almost too often. Just so you yourself know what I mean. You know the facts Dewey Russ had omitted from his report and by one of hs people. You also know that he had no right or reason know it. Yet, none of them have lifted a finger to help me to have this dirty, degrading thing retracted. This report rather than true cruel and heartless thing on top of the attack and injury itself, and I just don't know what to think of the people who have condoned it. The wonderful Chinese people, I'm certain, would not condone such a terrible wrong and injustice. Their conscience, I'm sure would not permit the condonation.
