Wednesday 26th Fine day – Helped D. J. Tho(?) hang seine – J.S. Maffitt – Absalom Jethro, Henry & Wm Simpson assisted – Had headache in afternoon – They wished me to come tomorrow 27th Pleasant day helped again at seine, job pretty well on Mr. Maffitt insisted on my coming back – said it would not do to part now until we were done. Hearing frog singing to night for the first time this sea son.

Friday March 28th

Went up in the morning and help finish seine – Whole length 428 fathoms – Land wing 250 – boat do 178. Brought a shoulder of meat from Miss B’s – left 2 shoulders 1 q(__) 4 hams 2 pieces dried beef -----------Saturday 29th---------- Hooped carriage wheels for Danl J in morning – went to Elkton in carriage with Benjamin Miller – called at Mr. Morris’s and took dinner came home with J. T. Gallaher – Mother came down in evening Went at night to the School Ex hibition – Great turn out and much interest. Danl J moved to fishing -

Fine pleasant day – Mr. Morris and wife came up and brought Milly Mr. Walmsley came up – Went to Church in the afternoon Mr. Helmbold preached from Joshua 13 -1 – Good attendance.

Monday 31 Warm with appearance of rain – Surveyed for Samuel Thompson & John R. Price. Took supper with Mr. Morris Elkton Came home in wagon with V. (not quite home) – Thompson and Price exchanged strips of land – Thompson receiving his next the Elkton & Back Creek road – Each beginning at a stone in the middle of the line each parcel 146 s. p. more or less

April 1st 1851 Pleasant with appearance of rain – Early peaches in blossom – Sowed cloverseed and Bought 1 doz fresh herrings – They are scarce yet – 3 fifes per day. worked in shop at wagon bed f V. ----------- 2 ------------- Rain – At worked in shop making tire for W. T. Warburton. ------------ 3 ------------ Clear & cool – High NW wind At work in shop – Thomas B. Miller and Howard Preston made application for school – Got 5½ bushels of wheat ground Mother went home ------------- 4 ----------- Worked in shop – Hoop W. T. Warbur tons wheels – weather pleasant ?

Saturday 5th April

Hooped wheels in morning. Worked some in garden planted Spanish onion sets, Tomatoes, Camomile & peas – plowed patch – weather begins to look stormy – wind East ----------- 6th ----------- Sunday – Heavy rain early in morning – Clears up pleasant – wrote Gambles Took dinner at Mr. P.s – Went in afternoon to mother's – Peach trees in bloom – Stopped at Miss Bs and took supplies

7 Went to court – No Judges quite a disappointment among the people
