1851 Tuesday April 8th
No Judges at Court yet. Rained all day – Creek very high – People afraid to cross – Miss Donelly’s got witted and left carriage & horse Got of A Evans Report on Mason & Dixon’s line -----------Wednesday 9 ------------------- Did not go to Elkton until 12 Oclock – Judge Eccleston came in cars – Called the court and proceeded to busi ness – G. M. Eldrige Foreman of Grand Jury – ---------Thursday 10th ---------- Attended Court – Case of Harlan & Carter marked for trial. Business progressing slowly – Wrote advertisement for A. Harvey – Stayed in Elkton all night – Fishing very dull. Bought boots of S(__)

Friday 11th
Wrote letters to Wm Geo Krebs -- Bargains with J.D. McCauley for tire bender. Court adjourned until Tuesday week. A. Constable looks very delicate -
Saturday 12th - Went to work at flooring porch and finished it - Weather a little cool but pleas ant - Benj. Miller came from fishing. commenced on wed nesday -- Scarce of h(__) Caught 3000 herrings at a haul & 30 shad -- W.T.W. Stopped at night and left papers - Sedge(?) field of Mr. W. afire John went to Elkton.

Considerable frost. appearance of storm. Mr. Helmbold preached in the afternoon 2 Cor. 8.9 – Mr. Wilson to preach at night Evening unfavorable Mr. Wilson preached to a small congregation. Rom. 5.1 ------------14th------------- Rain in morning – Clears up – Worked at kitch en porch. School meeting at night – Trustees all prsent Ballotted for teacher T. M. Hayes 3. T. B. Miller 1. H. Preston 1. Hayes elected teacher – Mr. Price went to Philadelphia -------------------------15------------------ Finished porch – commenced grubbing – Helped V. sow oats Wm. Morris took Milly to Elkton. ?

1851 April 16th Wednesday Raining in morning and continues at noon – worked in shop ------- 17 ------------- Cloudy & cool – Wind still N.E. peach blossoms beginning to fall off. Worked shop – Joseph S. Tempes went out to look at land. bargained for 100 acres at $1200 – F. B. Harvey called to get a release of mortgage written – wrote it to night. ---------- 18 ----------- More pleasant – worked in shop and at fence. Went to Miss B’s at night for shoulder bacon – Beautiful star light and appearance of clear weather

Arose in morning at 4 Ock and found it raining - Started to Johnson Factory but appearance of rain made me turn back -- Called to see mother also Henry -- Thomas Hayes came around in the evening with School subscriptions - ------------------ ------------
Sunday 20 Cool & cloudy -- Mr Morris brought Milly home -- new preacher Mr. Storke preached at Union -
