44 Drizzle and Cloudy S.E. April Thursday, 10th 1879 Worked at fixing up "omnibus" Painted sleigh. Caroline Marriott sent Hill boy after her express wagon. Fred Stabler called.

Friday, 11 Disagreable day high wind and cold showers. Painted sleigh and running gear on "omnibus"

Clear Cloudy NW 44° Saturday, 12 Arthur Stabler called for advise for his father. Went to "Rifle Range to meeting "Columbia Rifle Club. Jno. S Hammond here for advice and med. also Ed: Brown for his brother. Paid Ed Hill two dollars on account of wood

47° Clear April Sunday, 13th 1879 Went to Thos Brown's and Phineas Carol's. Charly went to Leawood Mills and Riverside in Sulkey.

Clear and Cloudy 50 Monday, 14 Went to Riverside to see Bro R. Sister B spent afternoon here. Frank Gilpin here in evening and practised music with Charley.

Cloudy and Drizzle Tuesday, 15 Uncle Henson came to fix lot. Went to Mrs Scott's and Riverside.

April Wednesday, 16 1879 Henson Hill and Phineas Carol here, the former all day and latter 3/4 of a day, finished plowing the lot and making bed for hedge row.

Thursday, 17 Rainy day cold and disagreeable. Burned the dining room and kitchen chimneys. Thos Lea called.

Friday, 18 Disagreeable day. Afternoon took Fanny Dickenson and her children to Homewood. Ed: D and Hallie Lea called. Frank Gilpin here in evening and staid all night with Charley.

Cloudy Variable April 33° Saturday, 19 1879 Extremely raw and disagreeable day. Fanny Davis (colored) here for advice and med: William Jackson & Jimmy dined with us

Sunday, 20 Clear and beautiful. Jimmy and Will: Jackson dined with us. Ernest took tea here.

Monday, 21 Clear and beautiful Uncle Newson here early and late. Caroll came at after 9 'o clock. Jno Johnson here. Also Caleb Stabler. Leanna Mitchell and Annie Addison went to Edwd Stablers Ashton and Brighton S S Labain here for advice &c

April Tuesday, 22 1879 Uncle Henson worked all day and Phineas Carol 3/4 of a day. I worked at fixing the "omnibus". Cousin Hallie Chandlee called. Charles Stabler brought me 800 osage orange plants for a hedge between our lot and where Moab White lives.

Clear Wednesday, 23 Uncle Henson worked all day, and Phineas Carol 3/4 of a day. Finished planting potatoes.

Clear Thursday, 24 Uncle Henson worked at planting hedge all day. Went to Meeting of the County Grange at "Brighton". Took Dora and left her at Edwd: Peirce's until after the meeting. Mary Miller called for advice for "Bell".

April Friday, 25 1879 Clear Uncle Henson finished planting the osage orange hedge and "rubbed" the potatoe ground. Working 1/2 a day. [Larken] woman brought Rachael Kelly's infant and I ligated [furgest] tumor on its umbilicus. Jno Johnson called. I went to Crawford's Lea's Mill and Riverside.

Clear Saturday, 26th S.E. Phinea Carol worked (painting) 3/4 of a day. I painted and put new cover and curtains on omnibus. Planted seeds in truck patch. Harriet (Colored girl from Spencerville) had tooth extracted. Wm Bukoffsky's infant (one of the twins) son Frank died this afternoon.

Cloudy Sunday, 27th N.E. Wm J Scofield here after me early in the morning. Went to Scofield's after breakfast. Charly and Willie went to Riverside Israel also went and took the colt over to pasture.

Thunderstorm about bed time

Clear Tuesday, 29th Richard P Iddings place to dinner Rachel Kelly here Frank Snowden and Douglass Miller here in the evening and had some music.

Clear Wednesday, 30th Caleb [Pumpling] and Wm Thomas Jr (both colored) here for advice and med: also Mrs F Stabler. Took omnibus to Sam Budd's shop. Phineas Caroll worked 3/4 of a day at painting. I went to Wm Bonds' Warner Cook's and Wm Johnsons Walton Stewart called also Bro: Richard and Cha Crumpton. Gave Wm Contea's account to Fairall Esq.

41 Clear and Cold N.W. May Thursday, 1 1879 Extremely cold for the time of year. Phineas Caroll here, A Fariall collected $4.00 from Wm Contee for me.

Friday, 2 Sent Israel to Jos: Wetheral's and got two barrels yellow corn (on the cob). I drove to Leawood Mills in the omnibus taking Harriet, Dora, Willie and baby Edwd: left the corn to be crushed.

Saturday, 3d Boxed and capped gate posts and painted them. Curry here and painted at front door. Went to Ashton J S Hammond here for advice [re]

May Sunday, 4th 1879 Charley and I went to Cornelius Leizear's - Charley about home all the rest of the day. Thos Lea called after tea, he, Chas: and Willie went to a temperance lecure at the Lyceum.

Monday, 5 Mrs Ent here for advice and med: Went to R. T Bentley's to prescribe for the "temperance lecturers". Went to Lea's Mill's and brought home horse feed in omnibus- - Curry here and "grained" the front door. E Dickinson called in evening also Granville Stabler. Went to see "Lottie Chalfant in the evening.

65 Cloudy Tuesday, 6 Mrs R. Cissel Mrs Ent. and Maggie Howard here for advice &c Went to Mrs Chalfant's Harriet cleaned our room. Afternoon E E Tyson, Miss Lacy Fawcett, Miss Carnie Kummer and Fannie Pierce called. Charley went after tea to Jackson and Bentley's. Wm Bukooffsky buried the last of his twin boys.

44° Clear N.W. May Wednesday, 7 1879 Went to C Leizears took H & baby with me. Jno Cumbey here and worked on front door. Went Mrs Chalfants' and store.

55 Clear and Cloudy Thursday, 8 About home until after dinner. Went to R I and H I Lea's steam saw mill for some slabs -- Sent medicine to Helen B Lea. Fanny Cole here for advice for infant. Fred K Tyson came in evening stage. Drove him over to E E Tyson's after tea -- was called up at 11-30 p.m. to see little Lottie Chalfant.

55 Clear Friday, 9 S.E Up Early. Charley, Ernest, the two Franks and Will Gilpin went to "the Falls". I went to Mrs Chalfant's. Harry Lea's & called at E E Tyson's for Fred: who I afterwards took to "Laurel". Home by 1-30 p.m.
