6:30 Vic calls for dinner.

6:45 Bill calls from Portland to tell me to go on T. tourist cruise. He thinks I'll be surprised. AM? Plus Eartha Kitt August 30?

7:00 Go pickup Vic.

(Following is written just after cruise and Steve Markham.)

Had nice supper at Thumpers on Madison and talked about Dan & John. Maybe it's good I didn't go out to Dans yet. Maybe during this week when Vic is there.

8:30 Walk down Broadway and get ice cream. Stop in at Funrys too. Funny we've never eaten there. Then over to Bob Spiveys.

(It realy is sort of an old record looking back on getting coke from him last night.)

11:00 Went home and did a little coke, which was a mistake since I know from past experience that I can't sleep. Went to Ritz & Neighbors. Saw Dick.

12:30 Leave to go home. Take Nick back to John's. Jerk off. Sleep one cycle, and then get irritating edge from Coke so I had to go to Safeway for Unisom at 2:00 AM.

2:30 As I return I see Mike Hallen taking off in his car, so I wait up after taking pill but then

3:00 I get sleepy, and finally sleep.

Cruise

Sat, Aug 2 '86

8:45 Get up & shower. Steve M. calls. Talk to Vic. Put together green shorts with green fish tie and purple chams shirt, and green & white socks & purple sunglasses.

10:00 Eat at Andy's. Stop by Dreamland and by chance owner was just passing by, so we could've gotten the straw hats, but we didn't. Then off to cruise

11:30 See some of the entertainment but it had started at 11:00

12:00 The cruise was pleasant I'm really glad Steve went.

But the cruise was much different than 1983 with so many good lookers, like Steve & Ray and Victor Jones, and fun people like Ritas. Yet Steve was there. And I achieved what I set out & wished for the very first year & every year after. I went home with Steve Markham and got the coke out of my system by having hot sex.

Yet what did I get out of it?

He's from "Calif" & not very fun.

It made me realize how different life couldve been had I not met Bob and spent time with them. Yet maybe Brad was that during 1982 and made me spend less time with Bob. But in 1983 when Bob won, I was very loving with Bob. In 1984 I was just a nerd. Bob was rat bitch & we held off on too much drinking, but then Victor Jones bought us two mai tais at the Tradewinds. 1985 was a good year cruising overall.

5:00 We called Bob. No answer. I took Vic home & went to gym to meet Markham. Showed him my new car, gave him a ride. To my house. Convenience of the hill...was very nice sex on the aftermath of cocaine. And afterward we just rested quietly, and I thought the thoughts in red on previous page.

7:00 Get upt for shower, unplug phones. Vic calls & leaves message. Take Steve back to his car. Go home to call Vic and arrange to meet for dinner. Put stuff away. Misc

8:15 Pickup Vic

What a trashy neighborhood. John Goodman is going to make some money though, but I would like to see myself with more friends with money.

Dinner at Funky's, not great. Never ate there before. Let Vic leave for Maries. Go home

Bob called on machine so call him back & had ncie talk.

One more thing I realized is that even though I think the costumes are very funny and drag is outrageous, when you see those guys in real life they are trolls: skinny, nondescript, etc. so it's fun but it's unsustainable.

And 2nd & Bell is gone!! It's the end of an era and I've realized that the tacky tourist gang is the same gang in winter, but trolls then.

2:00 Go bicycling for open houses.

Watch Blue Angels perform from Holy Name parking lot. View!

Cycle through Volunteer Park and down Broadway. Troll is at.

4:00 Exercise at Body Nautilus. Not too bad in mindless state. But winter is coming.

6:00 Go home to eat.

7:15 Go to Tugs for tea dance. Fun hot dance, but nothing new. But I did talk with guy who just moved from San Diego who reminded me you can bike yearround.

8:45 Up to Volunteer Park for a walk and home & phone is ringing

9:15 Talk with Bill an hour.

10:15 Take shower.

Read news & old WSJs.

3:00 Go see Henry Kuharic about neck. Long wait, read about oject-oriented programming. Get neck x-ray too. Nothing wrong. Get muscle relaxants.

5:00 Call Dan Donahue & plan to go to dinner

6:30 Leave for 7:00 ferry and drive out to Port Angeles. Called Bill. Very nice sunset drive.

10:00 Arrive & talk with Vic, Dan, & Tom Daggs (Mr. Langendorf)

12:00 To bed. With Vic. Unisom. Slept well.

Lay in sun and read review of May '82-Oct '83 in Apr '85 book.

Out in row boat. Row to other side of lake & back. Good back exercise. Strong east wind, but I made it all the way to the other side

3:15 Lunch is ready. Dan made chicken, rice, corn. Great.

4:00 Go check into Log Cabin Resort, drive out to East Beach. Adolescents. Back to Dan's, and meet his parents. Sit on dock & drink beer. Move into Log Cabin. Clean up. Drive out to Lake Crescent Lodge. Dinner. Beautiful view. Sun had set behind overlapping slopes. Back to Log Cabin & call Dan & plan for tomorrow. Meet for breakfast. Talk with Vic an hour. Go to sleep.
