A clear windy day. Some rain last night. The men folks worked on their tobacco land all day. Mr Robert Vaden and Smith of Gretna was here today. They wanted the use of the school house for a speakin Sat night.

Josie and I both had a hand in gettin dinner.

This evenin I went to Mr Owens. Mrs Dews was there. I come home and Josie and the children all went to Marvins. Carrie showed us her new things that she got at Altavista. Marvin had made him a hot bed. Mr Owen made one this evening.

A good day. The men worked on tobacco land until twelve. Ben went to Gretna to meet Nellie Brumfield. Franklin & I went with him.

Irvin Lewis carried my calf to Gretna this morning. Henry Blair was up there.

A good day cool for May. We all staid at home until after dinner. Nellie Brumfield was here. We had fried chicken and coconut pies for dinner. This evening Ben and Jim and Josie and Franklin went with Nellie to Gretna. They were gone three hours. I went to Marvins

Maggie Brumfield and two children was there. I was glad to see them

A good morning. It rained a nice shower this evening.

Ben finished cutting wheat at Lees this morning. Oscar Brumfield brought the binder home this evening.

Ben carried Jim a part of the way to Gretna. Mr John Ramsey carried him to Gretna. Ben did not go to the Lodge tonight.

Josie gathered some dew berries this morning. Caned them this evening.

I was at Carries a few minutes this evening.

A good day. The men folks all plowed. Josie got dinner. She cooked snaps and cymblins and potatoes and beets and baked apples. This evening I went with Gladdis and Hugh and Aubry Brumfield fishing. We caught a lot of little fish.

I come by Blairs. The men folks was stackin hay & oats. Several of the people a round went to Gretna & Altavista and some to South Boston.

Jim planted some corn & beans this evening.
