Ald. Thompson introduced a By Law to make provision for the watering of the streets within certain additional areas in the City of Kingston and to define the said areas for the year 1886, which was read a first time.

Ordered, that the Mayor be instructed to Communicate with the Dominion Government asking that its rights, whatever they may be, in the strip of land beach and adjacent water in front of lot number twenty three late in the fast Concession of the Township of Kingston and west ot Beverly street on lot twenty two lying South of the public highway, be transferred to the

the City, and that the City be granted the use of the ground about Murneys Tower to be used as an adjunct to the Park; and that the Mayor Communicate also with the Ontario government asking for a grant of the land covered with water in front of lots 22 and 23 as afore and as may be necessary to protect the interests of the City in the water front of that locality

A Communication from the Orangemen of Kingston was read asking for use of Park - Referred to the Park Committee to Consult with Finance Committee

McIntyre objects that the By Law is not in accordance with the advertisement - that the advertisement contains a notice of the opening up of the street from Johnson street to Princess street connecting Sydenham street (North with Sydenham south in terms the present By Law is merely for the opening up from Johnson street to Brock street.

That the By Law be so amended and that Sydenham street be opened to Princess from Johnson instead of as described in By Law as read and that the City Solicitor be instructed to make the necessary alterations on said By Law and that the by law do not pass as at present

That if it be deemed advisable to open up Sydenham street to Brock street, the said opening up be carried out in accordance with those clauses in the Municipal Act which provide for the assessment of the parties immediately benefitted by the opening aforesaid and that the By Law be not passed as at present - which - being put was lost as was also the first amendment - yeas and nay on 1st Amendment
