After the speeches we all got up. At ourtable was Dan, Andy Krom, Chris Wrigh]], Jeff Wedgewood + his wife, ?, Chris Horron and Bob Raphael, what a fun table!? [pink highlight] Bob asked if we wanted to go for a drink and I suggested the Broadway or Bafferts. As we were leaving Bob said we should invite Paul, so we did but he said he was tired so probably wouldn't makeit, while waiting I wished Bill congrats and said I hope to also make some contribution now that SEC is lifting its restrictions on my stock. Probably not such a wise thing to say in front of Bob Raphael who asks for money yearly. He noted that "we left you sorta out of this" but I just said "yes I was just sitting in the corner with the class '71" which I [pink highlight] should've followed with "So I wouldn't have to get up to speak," but I wouldn't have wanted to show that weakness of ability, so I guess it was best not to say. And it was in character for me just to be quiet. [pink highlight]

And I said if I were here today I'd spend all my time in that building, and Bill said "Yea there'd be a lot more places in hide the decrapes." To which I laughed loudly, sincerely, and we part.

Then Bob + I talked with Paul. And afterward I made one more pass through the Boys Locker room. Funny...As I left, I walked slowely watching a crowd of Seattle's elite, knowing I was a part of it, yet knowing I was also very separate. [pink highlight]

On exit, I stopped and said hello to Fred Wright. He seemed especially glad to see me, and I think I had one at my best conversations that night. Thoughts came easily. No pressure. I invited him to bring some students to Microsoft sometime.

I left with Tim Peterson, inviting him + Raymond Gray to Bafterts. Paul was walking behind us with his sister, and I asked if we ever had parties in the refectory. He said, "I tried to invite you to those parties" and I realized he was right and that being latently gay then divided us too. [pink highlight]

7:15 Get up, slow + a bit uninspired. Feeling awkward at not being able to have had anything to see to Bill or some other people at Company Meeting. I wish I were more articulate and bright in my current work.

8:30 Review September for Work. Vic calls for 15 minutes. Load of Laundry.

10:30 Go to MS (via QFC to drop off 2 film), try bug in Works WP underlining more than one line of text, and Works prints out underlined space at end of each line. Word doesn't do this. Try to update Raid, but server not available.

5:00 In the shower, it's starting to bother me much more, the lack of physical beauty, once again. Maybe it's the lack of Amitriptyline, or the lack of strong focus on work.

5:30 At home, misc.

Make + eat potatoes + Brocolli.

Water plants. Do mail. Laundry.

Throw out Garbage. (Cleanup yard too.)

Assemble MS directors chair.

Go through Comdex Preview Newspaper.

Decide not to go:

so crowded + hectic: 90000 people.

No desire to see Las Vegas

Just went to one in Atlanta

Nothing I want to seek out.

Getting quite tired of software, in fact.

Go to QFC. Put stuff away.

Rearrange some "to do" notes onto new list.

Put laundry away.

Sew on 2 buttons, clearing shirts off my dresser that have been there all summer.

(Golden Girls not on tonite.)

9:00 Call Pat. Drive around W. Hollywood

9:30 Drive to Pat + Dicks. Get lost a bit. Had beer, hot tub, Chivas

12:30 To bed

SAT OCT 17 '87

8:30 Get up. Misc. Watch Pee Wee go get stereo. w/Pat watch wrestling + read aerial picture book ~ SF

11:15 Go to gym.

12:00 Workout. Nice. Not too crowded. Nice, long workout, not as cruisy crazy. See some old faces, Gary Harrison. Take it easy, first by pool, then in steam room very briefly because a learing troll was in there, who I'd been stared during workout. Shower.

3:00 Dick + I walk to street fair and have lunch spaghetti. S+W blond, Bill and other guy from SF.

4:30 Return to gym, and wait for Pat in locker room. Saw Nick of Entertainment Tonight and Old Redondo Beach. These guys are so pro-LA. Good weather, but what to do? Saw some very nice looking guys. Sal, friend of Dick's, ultra cute. Go home, after calling Jorge

6:00 Relax, think + write. What to do. Dick wants to get coke from Jorge tonite, so gotta go. But not to go out to eat, I hope. I have strong reservations ~ doing coke. Pat goes to get groceries. Dick says he's going to get Jorge, which will take about 45 minutes, so I decide I should go to. Fun trip with the top down, and Dick says it's the way he goes to work. But it was very busy traffic and he says it's like that all the time. Especially bad at interchange from 10 to Harbor. Not as great ~ trip to work for views as mine.

7:30 And now I can make another decision again. Should I bay on margin? I'm glad I didn't before, instead taking a middle ground of holding

BUY MORE ON MARGIN. HOLD ONTO WHAT YOU HAVE. SELL SOME, DIVERSIFY TO CASH. I DID THIS BECAUSE I HAVE LT EXPECTIONS FROM MICROSOFT, YET DIDN'T WANT TO TAKE THE MOST RISK, NOR LESS RISK.

BUT WHAT'S SO FIXED ABOUT HAVING 95% OF MY ASSETS IN MS? JUST BECAUSE IT TAKES NO ACTION. WHICH HAS BEEN ALL THAT'S POSSIBLE UNTIL THE S.E.C. PERIOD ENDED OCT 10. AND NOW IN NO TIME, I'M MISTAKEN.

7:45 Dinner at Coce's. Spaghetti.

8:30 Try to find or decide where to stay. Note a number of unhappy memories

Marriott NB - Sep 84 after being locked out of Dick + Pat's + hustled off to LB. Calvin Marcus that night. 104 the next day

Surf + Sand - July '84 - when I wanted Glen but couldn't get him. I left in such a huff to San Diego, where I had little fun. Also having computer there. Bizarre. Greg Vail too, followed by guy I picked up after having dinner with Tim Hocking.

Costa Mesa Inn

July '83 after I left Tim at Newport Station + found nothing at Boom Boom + went home in my Labaron Con'le, but Tim not home.

Sep '85 after I left Dick + Pat's on Sunday Evening (?) same weekend that I went home with that guy in Bel Air, who sent me home Sun Morn.

Moridian - July 4 '86 Not a bad trip but it probably got me off to bad start w/Bill F, and Expo 86

This prompts me to think of all my trips to S. California over 82-87 and out of all, few are fond memories
